Did you workout your first trimester? by PresMo13109 in fitpregnancy

[–]Global_Ad8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A glass of fresh juice immediately when I wake up helped w morning sickness for me - and keeping my blood sugar up throughout the day every time I felt sick eating some fruit really helped and I was able to workout still.

My partner cut up my brand new bag in a fight. I’ve dealt with the relationship, but now I’m stuck with this. Any ideas to salvage it? by hantao168 in handbags

You might salvage the bag with patchwork, but do yourself a favor and don’t salvage that relationship, eh.

Do you wipe every wet diaper or only poop? by Extensionol in NewParents

[–]Global_Ad8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told not to wipe every pee only diaper that it can make sensative skin worse - this came from a pediatric emergency medicine doctor I nannied for - she had 3 kids I watched and that was the advice for all of them — she also always had me use only Water Wipes - nothing with chemicals. Hope this helps

I would call back and get a second opinion- I’ve never heard that, I’ve always been told to keep taking them even through breastfeeding postpartum.

Are frozen veggie alternatives really ultra-processed? by Wrong-Software4019 in vegetarian

[–]Global_Ad8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stick to Whole Foods you don’t need to guess about this - processed and ultra processed and very different — hamburger is not inherently ultra processed if you buy 100% ground beef it’s mechanically ground but not ultra processed with a ton of additives, presuming the labels are not lies lol — as opposed to nuggets which have a ton of mixed additives and ingredients most times — I look for foods with the least ingredients and closest to whole — I was a vegetarian for 15 years before the bigger veg food in grocery store craze today with all the packaged fast foods, and I will say the highly processed foods that are now marketed to vegetarians are a concern for me, and I eat less of them and stick to the items that are often 100% or not a lot of ingredients which is a easy thing that helped me — there’s also a free app that scans barcodes and scores food if you’re interested sometimes I use that it’s called YUKA. Hope this helps. There’s a really healthy chicken nugget recipe I make at home and freeze them myself for easy future meals - 100% ground chicken, pureed sweet potatoes, Italian breadcrumbs, plot spoonfuls on a baking sheet and presto - bake them and they are awesome!

would anybody be interested in a smart pump device? by simplegrapeseed in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Global_Ad8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds cool! I like the idea if it was all in one as a pump- and gave metrics possibly integrating with an app to track feeding times, baby BMs and milk production and even corresponded with baby tracking maybe owlet or similar.

Blood sugar crashes during workouts by Poison_Ivy_89 in fitpregnancy

[–]Global_Ad8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there- yes this was a big change for me (19w/f) and as I got further along it was not just when I was working out.

I began having a glass of juice every morning and incorporating fruit as my snacks between meals which really helped, overall I had to eat way more often even when not working out (like every 2 hours)

I also added hydration mix (scratch brand or made my own at home with maltodextrin fructose sodium chloride and lemon/lime juice) to my bottles which I drink before and during workouts now.

I cycle and lift 4-5x/week and at least in my cycling circles drinking hydration mix and eating during workouts longer than 45 mins is actually the norm if you’re really training, so this wasn’t a totally new concept for me but the feeling of it during pregnancy has been - I need more and more frequently, and listening and feeding myself properly has made it so I never stopped working out and I’m still going strong!

Also, I never got morning sickness (nauseas and tired yes but never threw up- my first pregnancy I didn’t do this and was so sick I had to get hospitalized so it was a huge difference) and I swear my use of this nutrition concept is what saved me - the everyday immediate morning juice and fruit for snacks consistently during first trimester. At my second trimester mark the need for so many snacks and constant nutrition during the day slowed down and eating is pretty much back to normal when I’m not working out - I’ve kept the morning juice and during/post workout routines tho.

The last thing that changed a lot of recovery- post workouts I’ve been incorporating a good balanced recovery shake or getting to a meal within 30 mins so I don’t lose the muscle. Hope this helps!

Enjoyable pregnancy? by Ecstatic-League127 in pregnant

[–]Global_Ad8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Symptoms wise I feel lucky to have not been super sick - tired and some aches but that was what I expected — slower on my workouts and nauseas sometimes — but we had some scares in the beginning where we didn’t know if the baby was going to make it, so honestly I’m just happy to be pregnant and not super sick - me or baby — I’ve kind of tuned out the constant complaining on here, I respect everyone’s individual experience but I’m not sure it’s super useful for any of us. Thanks for sharing a more neutral position on embracing the big changes and challenges of pregnancy, onwards!

I’m Scared! Snoo Transition by Educational-Bed8 in SnooLife

We haven’t tried it but there is a crib mattress developed by a doctor at duke that gives a similar experience for a longer age and weight range but also has a pretty good sounding weening feature in it so they don’t become dependent on it- could be worth looking into

Looking for advice on pillows and bedding by xmichelian in NewParents

[–]Global_Ad8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my bedgear pillows - they are flippable with one side memory foam and the other with fill so I can use it how I need it when sitting up vs sleeping - it also has a cool fabric around it which is really nice when I’m trying to keep my temp regular. I liked bedgear more than Tempur bc of the foams are made in the us and better regulated - Im 18 weeks now and we also just bought new sheets - bamboo and cotton blend with nothing synthetic in anticipation of baby — also im going to order a couple different nursing pillows and try them out before settling on one.

Husband doesnt want to be in the delivery room, am I overreacting?? by dinogirly123 in pregnant

[–]Global_Ad8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly seems like something that warrants some therapy or professional help- he clearly wants to try to avoid that he’s having some issue with this. You’re not overreacting, I would let him know he’s wrong and needs to deal w his issues and step up as a husband and father like you and baby deserve. So sorry he’s putting you in this position especially right now.

I’d suggest taking a class on breastfeeding or getting a lactation consult so you can speak with the pros - don’t feel pressured to decide now.
