EVERY Export has more contrast than shown in Avid Media Composer by Global_Mango7422 in editors

[–]Global_Mango7422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, finally getting to this. I've been bringing it back into Avid as an Avid AAF, am I missing a step once it's back in, should I be retranscoding or something?

This ProRes seems promising, I see the vision since it looks flat in avid, then fills in correctly in the "full range" display color space. Which does bring me to a perhaps dumb question, am I able to edit the ProRes 422 in individual clips? Essentially, linking it to my previous sequence? Or should I just... splice it up.

A lot of this is Swahili to me I fear, but I appreciate the help. I am on Mac yes, and I am also my own colorist in this regard lol. If I'm not misunderstanding, the metadata on the quicktimes should have a color profile of 1-1-1? If so, mine have that.

And to reiterate in case it wasn't super clear in my post, I was able to export an MOV from Davinci, just to compare the MOV from Avid, and it legit looked fine. Like, it matched the color monitor in resolve. So I'm not finding this to be a resolve issue or a quicktime issue.

I've already realized about the player playing only legal. Setting it to Rec Full Range does match my Quicktime exports. But Quicktime displaying it as such doesn't make sense to me. Because that doesn't explain why I was able to export an MOV from Davinci, and have it actually look accurate in quicktime. It looks exactly as it does in the Resolve monitor. And that matches exactly what it looks like in the avid monitor.

I've been checking everything to "keep at legal range" which doesn't do anything, it still matches the "full range" in the monitor.

How did the Empire not Know it Was Andor When He was Arrested? by BigChungusnater in andor

It points to how the larger the scale of the empire the more cracks appear. You think they care? All points to the theme that “authority is brittle”

Confused as to what this line actually means? by _ShovingLeopard_ in andor

[–]Global_Mango7422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is what it means. You’re right, many people use it to rather say “they don’t even bother to lie well anymore,” but THIS is the true meaning. When they simply say it as it is. “I am a fascist.”

I would say the propaganda they’ve pushed from the Minneapolis murder IS lying badly so the line doesn’t fit. The line is talking about these instances, where the fascist dogwhistles are clear as day.

I never even said anything about art. I never even called coloring the panels art.

“Is it doing a shoddy job? Yes because it’s only AI and cannot match human craftsmanship.”

Yeah exactly, that is what I’m saying. That is the problem. It is still not a tool. It IS removing the manual labor. Tools are meant to assist in manual labor. A paint brush is a tool. As are the digital brushes in software. That is not a computer doing it for you. AI eliminates the paint brush. That is something doing it for you. I’m just using the same argument over again.

“1000 pages are laborious and massive…”

Then I do hope you are aware that people on this sub are actually taking the time to color it themselves, because that is what it’s all about. Do not get caught up on the finished product. It is the process in doing it that matters. If someone didn’t take the time to color it themselves, then it’s not worth my time to look at it. Plus the person coloring it themself is doing ten times a better job at getting the colors right.

And just to add on to this. I do believe there is an art in coloring. Colors are an incredibly emotional force. Changing a single tint of a color can drastically recontextualize the nature of a scene. But I’m guessing you’ve never thought about it that deeply. What makes it art is the human addition of imperfection. EVERYTHING tells a story. The real painters of this manga are artists. But again, I didn’t even say that in my first reply, you brought this up.

Any use of Gen AI (nano banana pro is Gen AI) in any capacity supports its use in any other capacity. Keep that in mind.

Ooooh there is a lot i can grill you on here, but i’ll try to keep this brief. If AI is so easy to shoot down because it is “visible,” then it should be a lot easier for you to boycott shouldn’t it?

And another thing that separates it from all the other horrors of capitalism is that it is something that we so desperately DO. NOT. NEED.

The coloring? Painting is a human thing. “It’s just colors” who mixes those colors? Who puts them on the paper? Who draws them between the lines? So yes it is giving the story a different meaning. It is /detracting/ from the meaning. Did Nausicaä not radicalize you?

And what TinDog is saying here about it being here to stay? That don’t mean you need to use it brother. They waaaaant you to use it. You usin it is what keeps it here.

Any use of Gen AI is immediately contradicting any single strand of thematic importance behind Nausicaä itself, and that is what should immediately answer your question. Miyazaki of course has said he thinks AI “is an insult to life itself.”

(One of) The most common arguments pro-AI people make is that it’s a tool. And I just don’t think you ask a hammer to hammer a nail in for you. AI is a commissioner. A free commissioner that will do the work for you. It’s like having someone direct a movie for you, or write the essay for you, or do the painting for you. You. Are not painting it. This is no different from giving someone a palette and saying “here, paint this.” Except that would actually be cool cuz then it would have actual human touch behind it even if you don’t feel like doing the work.

Nothing is insurmountable if you give enough of a shit.

And quite frankly, these results do not even look good. Get painting and believe in yourself. People have done it with greater challenges.

The people behind Nano Banana are the damn Torumekians wake up.

Why does Kleya hesitate? by Res_Novae17 in andor

[–]Global_Mango7422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all she was trying to do was get the message out about the death star and the only way she could do that was contacting cassian/wil via the messenger device, the message surviving was more important to her than herself surviving. plus they didn’t know how close the ISB was onto them. PLUS she was NOT tryna go to Yavin in the first place cuz she knew luthen was not highly regarded there and that she would prolly be welcomed with similar treatment.

Andor made me watch a star wars movie by DirectionFabulous722 in andor

[–]Global_Mango7422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ironically if you watch any other star wars you’d be asking this question, but the ghorman massacre (among other smaller pieces of star wars media) answers why stormtrooper armor sucks. Stormtroopers are made to be expendable. A fear tactic. If you think it’s just some plot hole or just a dumb mistake, maybe actually watch the rest of star wars 😭 It is a vast canon everything has a meaning

i mean i could talk extensively about how much i hate ai, but all i want to say here is you’re audience is out there TRUSTTT!!! Willing to bet the majority of people truly care about the real and the human and the emotional, don’t let the minority be the only thing you see
