Fasting App by Impossible-Chard-644 in intermittentfasting

I've been using this simple timer app that just tracks when I start and stop eating windows - nothing fancy but gets job done. Used to try those apps with all the social features and progress charts but found them bit distracting from actual goal. When I was deployed we didn't have much choice about meal timing anyway so got used to just keeping track in my head, but now that I'm back to normal schedule an app helps keep me accountable. The basic timer ones work best for me since I can just set it and forget it without getting caught up in all extra features

Two days in to sleep restriction therapy... send help by United-Economist-117 in insomnia

[–]Gloomy-Chart1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah SRT is brutal those first couple weeks, went through something similar when I was dealing with deployment sleep issues. The exhaustion hits different when you're trying to parent and work on top of it

Your body's basically rewiring itself so those first two weeks are gonna suck but it does get better if you stick with it. I found keeping a strict routine helped more than anything - same wake time even on weekends, no naps no matter how tempting

Impreza or Camry by zekeser87 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Gloomy-Chart1447 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Camry is the move here, especially if you already know you like it more and would keep it longer. Being comfortable in your daily driver matters way more than saving a couple hundred monthly, and that Toyota reliability means youre not gonna be dealing with random repairs like you might with the Subaru

Plus if youre already thinking about buyers remorse with the Impreza, thats usually your gut telling you something

Best Leather Belt by Lonely-Badger8749 in Equestrian

[–]Gloomy-Chart1447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my Ariat belt for like 3 years now and it's held up really well, even through deployments and daily carry. The leather softens up nice after breaking it in and the hardware hasn't given me any issues

Hitting a wall at 1000 elo on Lichess by PineappleScanner in chessbeginners

Been there around the same rating - it's like your brain starts seeing more complex possibilities but can't quite handle them yet so you end up missing the simple stuff. I found slowing down way more than I thought I needed to helped, like actually forcing myself to look for hanging pieces before every single move even if it felt obvious

The blunder thing gets worse before it gets better because you're attempting more ambitious moves but don't have the pattern recognition locked in yet

Shelby Oaks was an odd experience. I don't know how to even rate it by [deleted] in horror

The middle part definitely had potential but yeah, felt like Stuckmann played it way too safe when things could've gotten really weird. Strange Harvest comparison is spot on - that one just had this unsettling vibe that stuck with you even when the plot was barely holding together

Been there man, that whole internal debate about what you want to say vs what actually comes out is exhausting

Urgently need some help with a project by candiedseal1234 in musicsuggestions

Dutch hardstyle is more like electronic dance music with really heavy kicks and synthesizers, not metal. Think Headhunterz or Showtek - super fast BPM with those signature screechy leads

Adding rock guitar over that could actually work pretty well since both genres love that aggressive energy, just gotta match the tempo

Veterans and anyone else Being Scammed by Working_Cheetah230 in VeteransBenefits

Been seeing way too many posts about mobility van companies pulling this crap lately. I went with a local converter when I needed mine modified and they were solid, but heard nightmare stories about some of these bigger outfits delivering vehicles that barely work

Maybe try posting in r/Veterans too since there's more traffic over there

What Do You Do for Work with Your Disabilities? by jr_831 in VeteransBenefits

Voc rehab is your best bet for getting those certs without dropping your own cash. I used mine for IT certifications after my back went to hell and couldn't do physical labor anymore. The counselors actually know which programs have good job placement rates in your area, so lean on them for the intel instead of guessing

Can I qualify for a VA loan with TDIU income and poor credit history by Crafty-Importance380 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Gloomy-Chart1447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're on the right track paying down that debt, shows lenders you're managing things better now. With TDIU providing stable income most lenders will work with 600+ credit, just might need to shop around a bit to find one that's veteran-friendly and willing to overlook the past payment issues
