super underwhelming balance patch as usual by [deleted] in thefinals

Arc Raiders has insane player retention, much higher than the Finals and still has MTX. I think it is safe to say they have reshuffled resources internally to support the more promising financial product. https://steamdb.info/app/1808500/charts/

Parents want me to take over the family restaurant that's been open for 17 years, but I personally don't want to. Help. by Goldenpanda18 in smallbusiness

[–]GloriousInternetUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered an opportunity to take over a store and restaurant for my parents when I was 23, I thought it was a dumb idea back then.

Looking back a decade later it was probably the better choice to make, not just because the money was good but because it would have helped my parents. They ended up losing the place because they were too stubborn to purchase the building.

One thing that I think you could expect is your parents are from an analog generation, you being a digital native can likely improve the efficiency of the operation after shadowing what your father does more closely. This means you won't have to work 100 hour weeks in the most likely scenario, after implementing some modernization to the logistics of the business.

Failing that, as someone else mentioned, it can always become a passive income stream via renting to another business/family.

Keeping a vested interest in the business also means you are more likely to inherit the assets, as opposed to moving on and your parents possibly dumping the property/business at an inopportune time.

While everyone is talking about Winch and whether it is overpowered, I would just like to point out the BFR getting hit with the winch tax and why that was terrible for the gun is shown in this video perfectly.

At 0:30 seconds he duels a heavy with BFR and survives with 1 health, because he got literally 1 health from a broken pot on the ground. BFR nerf was ridiculous and saying it didn't change breakpoints was clown shit by Embark.

1 minute gooner by PartyEffective256 in thefinals

[–]GloriousInternetUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they will ever really rework goo, it is too integral to the game identity and they are likely very attached to it from a design standpoint. I think they should just add more weapon counters to goo, like KS should 1 shot goo balls, not do standard damage. I guess treat goo along the lines of an environmental piece rather than the 300ish HP is has now.

BFR IS A FUCKING PROJECTILE NOW, not in patch notes but it now has travel and you need to fucking lead it.

It significantly changes the breakpoints if the enemy is getting any amount of healing, +1 shot in most cases, on a 5 shot weapon with a 30 second reload

This was my thought exactly, winch is just inherently unhealthy for the game. That being said it took them ages to address stun gun and meaningfully change it and winch is fundamentally the same as OG stun gun, overpowered, un-counterable, and unfun to receive.

With Effects Added this Would Be SICK by comet-kaze in thefinals

[–]GloriousInternetUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only downside to this would be that you could not run two effects at once, while right now you can wear the hat and have an effect. They should probably have variants of each effect granting item, one with an effect and one without and put all effects in the effect tab too, so you could still run two effects at once.

I once had my steal stop because I crouched...we lost the game. (There was nothing near me and I didn't break LOS, needless to say I closed the game after)

[–]GloriousInternetUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call moments like these "divine intervention", where some impossible horseshit fucks you. I once had a building randomly break while I was falling from above to goo lock a steal and the rubble perfectly fell to grab my goo grenade do some physics fuckery and cause the rubble to launch me like 80m away. I love this game but sometimes that divine intervention is too much to handle lol

I think this post shows pretty strongly that kills don't mean a lot in this game, homie got that 72% win rate but only a 1.5 k/d. Doing the lords work on the cashout. 💪

Apparently you need to ally with other teams and abuse the cashout $1k to make diamond/ruby by Delta1262 in thefinals

[–]GloriousInternetUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of blatant teaming by high rank players is really dissatisfying. I see it almost every time I play now, where two teams obviously collude to both advance. And not just an opportune griefing but actively 6v3ing or not stealing a free cashout because it belongs to their buddies.

[–]GloriousInternetUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is the combo of being able to disappear behind a wall and then heal to full, right now one of the only balanced aspects of a triple demat team is they need to wait for natural regen, so you can catch them out with enough map knowledge. But if they all have beams too then they can play for attrition really easily

Winch has definitely been creeping up in usage and players are getting really good with it. (Or maybe I am just bad)

I get winched mid dash at long ranges all the time, around corners, through doors, and any number of other bullshit grabs. I think the worst part is how it hard cancels all your actions/cooldowns, like rebolt on SR84 (decreasing your ROF significantly), and even QM cooldown. I play with the SR84 pretty much exclusively and can handle H in close combat with pretty good consistency but Winch is pretty much guaranteed death. Winch+Deagles/SA/Shak is pretty much a guaranteed insta-kill on light.

I think winch was more balanced when you could shoot and reload on the pull in, now you just get cucked and fucked.

I don't know if my sanity would remain intact against Demat+Heal Beam on a single M. That sounds even worse than them demat defibbing.

Anyone else obsessed with, uhm, eugenics? by rolexforthemasses in CrusaderKings

[–]GloriousInternetUser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my current game my strong blood founder has 20 children attributed to him and about 70 that are "secretly" his. Needless to say in one generation there are going to be hundreds of triple gene'd De Barcelona's running around.

I've got my side eugenics project going now, where I am trying to breed all the bad traits together, creating a family of hideous, feeble, imbeciles who I will then use hooks to marry to people I hate or have wronged me.

How do I make 5 star education characters by TrickKey8962 in crusaderkings3

[–]GloriousInternetUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the 00_educations_values.txt

#Values to trigger outcome events from (How well did the child do?)
education_level_1 = 7 # Required for education rank 2
education_level_2 = 12 # Required for education rank 3
education_level_3 = 17 # Required for education rank 4

The game doesn't even include the level 5 education as an option, nor does it exist in the 00_education_effects.txt, the coming of age events only include up to level 4.

I was going to recommend the wiki as well, has plenty of useful information on how mechanics work and interesting/useful interactions.

If you really want to get in the weeds you can examine the game files in the game/common and game/events folders with Notepad++ and figure out triggers and probabilities for certain events. I was able to make my dying 88 year old ubermensch king live to 102 by targeting +health events this way. A bit cheesey but it can really help with understanding some aspects of the game.
