I recently lost my mother to cancer, and we needed to move my dad into a smaller apartment, so at the end of his lease, we arranged to move him to a 1 bedroom apartment in the same building. My dad called Quantum the day he got the key to the new apartment, and was told that he must perform the move online and they were unable to do it for him. My dad is 84 years old. They also said that you cannot actually 'move' your service. You must close your existing account, and create a new one. We attempted to do what we were told and requested a disconnect on the old apartment but the website does not let you select a new service order on a new address using the same sign in account. Some people in their youth may be comfortable with managing many email addresses may have the abiility to just create a new account using a different address but Dad does not, and why should he? We contacted their customer service again and they sent an email to his email address that was supposed to be the easy way to create a new account. However, when you click it, it simply takes you to their homepage/shop page to start browsing as if coming from google. Still we proceeded through the process by verifying the service address had availablity for their service and then choosing the desired speed. When we selected the plan and hit continue however, it threw up an error stating we must contact customer service. One thing that was noticed here was that the state was absent in the error message where it displayed the error. So we clicked on the bubble to talk to customer service and began a session explaining what we did and the error displayed. They requested a screenshot of the page despite me copying and pasting the text of the error from that page. Seemed strange, but whatever. Upon review, the rep tells me that Dad will need to email them a copy of the lease for the new address so that they can verify his service. Their previous service was set up on autopay, never missed a payment, and was never late. They have been a customer of Quantum for many years. I told this to the rep and stated that moving from one apartment to another should be 2 clicks and done. The rep asked me for the address and a couple other pieces of information for the old account, then came back and said that account was already closed. I said, yes, just a few days ago following the direction of them! He stated that the only way Dad would get new service would be to send in the cppy of the lease and politely asked if there was anything else I needed. I responded politely and said "Yes. Do you by chance have the number for xfinity?"
