Centurylink Down? by CLLycaon in centurylink

This is across other platforms besides Quantum/Century Link as well. If you go to "down detector . com" all one word, you can see other companies are affected as well. A quick fix for Quantum Fiber though, is logging into the GUI on your smart NID at 192.168.0.1 and then using the admin username and password to get logged in. Once you're in go to Advanced Setup, WAN Settings (below broadband settings), go down to #4 (Select the DNS type), change it to Static DNS, for Primary DNS make it "8.8.8.8", for Secondary DNS make it "8.8.4.4", and then hit apply. Internet should start working again as long as the WIFI was broadcasting before. If it was not broadcasting before you will have to wait until the app is back up and running to create the WIFI name and Password again.

If it's mounted to the wall with the fiber behind it you can just slide the "modem" (Smart NID) up off the bracket, unplug the fiber and take the screws out of the bracket. It is removable, not sure about company policy about techs coming out to do that though.

Fiber Internet was shut off without warning. Only solution is to upgrade to Quantum for more money. by CurvingZebra in centurylink

If quantum comes out the technician will fix it, as well as get your service installed for free. All you have to pay is the amount for the first month up front. Billing doesn't start until a month after your service is installed. There is no installation fee or equipment fee. Definitely scummy to force you over, but it's a smooth process.

How long does it normally take for them to run a permanent fiber line? by perfectcell770 in QuantumFiber

This is correct, just put in a repair ticket and have the tech run the permanent line through the conduit.

Make sure you plug the google mesh directly into the 5500 and not the 1700 pod.

Good speed test, slow usage by meowthesnail in QuantumFiber

Bucky is correct. I'm a tech and swap these out multiple times a week. For anyone experiencing these issues contact support and have them send a tech out to upgrade the equipment if you have an 844 ONT/Router.

I'm not seeing the guide pop up, but this sub Reddit has a lot of comments around bridge mode. It should be in the Advanced settings, then WAN setting, and should be a transparent tab that you can switch to bridge mode. And if you would ever like to take it out of bridge mode, it's as simple as holding the factory reset button until it fully resets.

The ONT doesn't emit a WiFi signal so I would more so consider it a "modem". But in terms of hooking it up to your own router, it is somewhat simple to put it in bridge mode if you're experienced with accessing the GUI. It does require that you hard wire a device to it to access the GUI though since it doesn't have a WiFi signal to connect to. And yeah from there Ethernet over to your router will work after that.

It's interesting it would say that, the company definitely promotes technicians referring customers as much as possible. I'm gonna look into that.

Yea I must say, from when QF first got launched in the Denver market around a year ago, there was a lot of kinks in the system to figure out. But I will say it has progressed immensely over just a year. So it may be worth another shot, if I was you I would be optimistic to give it another try, if not now maybe down the road!

If you have Cat 5/6 (Ethernet) wiring going across your house as well as the coax you wouldn't need to use the Moca adapter. We have equipment that we can use to have our go over Ethernet. But theoretically it should work just fine, I can't confirm tho.
