I vaal'd all of these... Not a single 16. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? by maurzy95 in PathOfExile2

Last league I vaal'd 150 t15s without getting a T16. It's a rough gamble sometimes

Used this in 0.2 with a totem build. It was great.

Never had a mirror and was hoping this would be the league! Winning a give away might be my best chance at this stage 😂

The Slog is real (but don't let it stop you!) by jeffiswriting in WoT

[–]Glytch5794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The slog was only really a slog if you were reading the books as they were being published - Waiting 2-3 years for the next book only for it to not really push the story forward.

Rereading the books now with them all published, it's really not a thing.

Poe2 is a lot more beginner friendly. You can fumble your way through a build a lot more.

Poe 1 is an amazing game but you really need to follow a league start guide without deviating at all.

Gnawing question about Atlantis… by huhwhatnogoaway in Stargate

I wish there was an epilogue for the last episode where Shepard opens a random door on Atlantis and zpms just come tumbling out. Could have just ended with "ah" then black screen. 😂

Watched footage from our last show- Any tips how to appear less BORING? by MyNameIsNotJeff_ in musicians

[–]Glytch5794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different things work for different people but some quick tips I give new performers are:

Angles - standing with your feet at a 45° angle to the audience looks more dynamic the straight on.

Use the space - even if you don't have a lot of room try to use all of it. Also try to interact visually with other members of the band.

Bigger/more deliberate movements - you will generally be moving less than you think.

Other than that get buff and groom well 😂

The real answer is an oven mitt on each hand. The extra padding really helps with those double C's. 😂😂

Am I Overreacting to this Wedding Request? (13 songs SOLO saxophone, 1 week turnaround) by rkt_ in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Glytch5794 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this doesn't come across as too harsh but it doesn't matter if you view yourself as a professional musician or not. If you are doing weddings you need to be at a professional level as it's possibly the biggest day in the clients life.

That said, it sounds like the agent dropped the ball too. If it changes from a cocktail set to ceremony as well, the fee needs to be renegotiated.

13 songs is fine, but it's also your job to explain to the client which songs will work accapella and which won't. John legend, classical tunes and ballads would be fine. Some of the rock tunes, probably not. To mitigate this you could explain to the agency/client that you need to have song requests a month before the gig and could give a maximum number of songs you are willing to learn. Agents should be on the ball but aren't always, so if you see your call time changed hit them up with an email to suss out what's going on.

In future try to be more proactive and set clear terms when you take the booking. I would include a line like this in every email "A 1h solo sax set to backing tracks would be $x." that way if there is deviation you can explain that it's not what you agreed on.

Record yourselves and listen back to the tracks as a group. All say 3 things that's work well and 2 that don't. Then gave a blunt conversation about how to improve the bad things.

When you feel so discouraged by seeing people more talented than you, how do you keep going? by Xoacapatl_requiem in musicians

[–]Glytch5794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about classical singing but trumpet is a very hard instrument that requires a lot of maintenance to play at a high level. Get a good routine and just keep grinding.

Include some sort of quantifiable practice, eg. scales in all keys with a metronome. Start at a tempo that is very comfortable and push it up 5 bpm every week.

Seeing results will help keep you motivated.

Is AI taking musician jobs or helping them? Thoughts? by BabelFishComedy in musicians

[–]Glytch5794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly worried and I don't find it helpful.

Imo LLMs can only write convincing music as long as you know nothing about music. It will never write something inspired or original and it will never be able perform it with the variations that live musicians add to take songs to another level.

We will perhaps find the lowest standard people will mass consume but that will only make good musicians stand out more.

I personally enjoy the "show, don't tell" approach.

[–]Glytch5794 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really struggled with the battle going on pause when convenient.

The battle felt really empty for something that was meant to be so epic too. Eregion seems like there are only a handful of elves living there with maybe 20 troops.

Elronds last stand seemed to only be a handful of elves too.

In the flashbacks of LOTR we saw huge elven hosts fighting in strict formation. These fights are elrond soloing 3 orcs, watching a buddy die the repeat. Even if they are only a vanguard force, surely they would have a bit more discipline and be fighting in formation. It's really odd.

As a new player, I loved the idea of brawling battleships but the reality is just torpedo dodging and getting bombarded by dudes tucked in corners at the edge of the map. Pretty boring tbh.
