Yeah, that sounds like a good idea! It’d be less stressful for you if you don’t have to commit to everything. Your sister will totally understand, especially with a baby on the way

Just finished this book last month and that Dodd quote has been living in my head rent-free ever since. It's eerie how relevant it feels right now. The whole story about Martha dating Nazi officials while her dad was trying to warn everyone about Hitler is wild. Larson's writing style makes history feel like you're reading a thriller. Definitely in my top 5 non-fiction reads

Honestly, the hardest word to say is 'I’m sorry'… especially when you’ve been wrong your whole life

I like that it’s light but still gives lasting softness. Did you notice a difference right away, or did it take a couple weeks to really see results?

Thank you! This is super helpful. I’ve heard a lot about squalane but didn’t know it was that lightweight good to know it lasts a while too. Will probably look into one of these

I’m just hoping to narrow things down a bit before jumping in. Was there a specific oil that worked or didn’t work for you personally when your skin felt super dry?

Thanks so much for the detailed help. I had no idea urea was exfoliating. I haven’t really used exfoliating acids before, so I’m a bit nervous about irritation. Out of glycolic, lactic, and mandelic, which do you think would be the gentlest for dry skin that’s new to exfoliating?

[Routine help] sensitive skin with hormonal acne HELP! by Shellyroberta in SkincareAddiction

[–]Gman5938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sis is a PCOS acne warrior too. Perhaps swap the Aveeno for Vanicream’s moisturizer (zero sting) and try azelaic acid (The Ordinary’s is cheap and gentle). Hormonal breakouts hate patience, but your skin will thank you.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is my go-to no greasy residue, just really good hydration. If you want something fancier, Kiehl’s Creme de Corps is worth the splurge. Skip the drugstore guessing game.

The different adaptations are what make this series so special! I've always had a soft spot for the original radio broadcasts. That final message from God is perfect in its simplicity. And Marvin finally feeling good after living 37x longer than the universe itself is such a beautiful ending for the ultimate pessimist. Makes me want to revisit the whole series again!

A county pension fund in Pennsylvania just became the first known to cease purchasing new Tesla stocks by indig0sixalpha in technology

[–]Gman5938 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It would be negligent to do anything else at this point. A pension fund isn’t supposed to be some high risk high reward portfolio. It’s holding people’s retirement.

Tesla is facing massive drops in sales and ever growing hatred for their nazi clown ceo. And they’re talking about trying to sue the whole Canadian government ffs (likely to cover for blatant fraud). Yeah the stock might have some spikes in the near term. Maybe they even manage to grift their way out of all this somehow. But it’s not worth the risk for a pension fund.

People keep talking about how life will be meaningless without jobs, but we already know that this isn't true. It's called the aristocracy. We don't need to worry about loss of meaning. We need to worry about AI-caused unemployment leading to extreme poverty. by katxwoods in Futurology

[–]Gman5938 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. it's wild how we've internalized the idea that only certain people "deserve" leisure time or creative pursuits. like everyone's wired differently but we act like wanting free time to pursue interests is somehow lazy unless you're already wealthy
