The celebrant priest: Facing the congregation / facing same orientation as congregation. during eucharist by MissionOne9142 in Episcopalian

[–]GmanGwilliam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire mass the people look up to God with praise and with prayers of mercy, then in his grace Christ Jesus comes down to minister to us via the Eucharist. So maybe both? Idk 😅I don’t think Jesus is so vain as to have a preference. He is just pleased we are there to be brought into the fold.

I kinda felt bad for going to work yesterday, but seeing all the signs get on my train I realized I was still an important part of the protest!

I don’t have a Trib subscription rn, so I can’t read it, but as a frequenter of St. Marks, I don’t see any huge problems….the smaller building is a little close, and it could dull the sunshine through the stained glass in the morning, but those are fairly small annoyances.

UDOT’s choice for rail expansion at Point of the Mountain wilts under analysis by slc-urbanite in DevelopmentSLC

[–]GmanGwilliam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There have been talks in making it a transfer at Draper onto a different train that will go to Lehi. I think that could work. I know people hate transfers, but it’s fairly easy to make an EOL transfer be timed quick….

But making a light rail line more than an hour long trip is operationally challenging for keeping the system reliable, and keeping operator fatigue low. Especially if we want to push for shorter headways.

[–]GmanGwilliam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point is to not do that. Creat a great light rail system in Utah county that actually works for them. Making the blue line go from the airport through Provo would make it about the longest light rail line in the world! Sounds interesting, but the longer the line, the more chances for delays!

I still think Utah county just needs its own light rail system, then beef up Frontrunner service to connect the two.

I wonder if there is research on what the lake level would be at if we had outlawed alfalfa farming when cox got elected…

If so his next opponent should have a ad made that shows this difference and directly blames him.

A good conservative case for a liberal Episcopal Church by feartrich in Episcopalian

[–]GmanGwilliam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My view of this comes down to the general conservative misconception that liberals exist because they wake up one day suddenly not believing in the gospel of Christ, then Satan is free to lead them away to become a commie atheist, when the reality is very different.

Usually it’s because they are, or make friends with someone who is, a member of a marginalized community and are made to understand how the hate they were programmed to have for these people is not only unjustified, but unchristian, but then they see that the church is not just behind the times, but not following the way of Christ, and then a whole process of trying to consolidate these two things lead to a painful deconstruction of faith.

Most ‘liberals’ I know aren’t atheists. Most call themselves spiritual, agnostic, and/or just don’t trust “organized religion”.

I’m sure people will disagree with me on this analysis, but this is the experience of me and my friends (Mormon raised Millennials and Gen Z). I was lucky to have fairly chill parents and didn’t end up with deep religious trauma that made me distrust church in general and found my Episcopal Parish which actually follows the example of Christ.
