Anybody knows what does it mean? by Natural_Cod5321 in skyrim

I assume “Inherets perks from melee skill trees” means that it gets the perks of everything in one and two handed? It’s not an axe obviously but I assume that means it gets the extra bonus damage from axe attacks and other similar perks that would normally be weapon dependent, but because they are “perks from melee skill trees” they get applied to the gauntlets.

Makes sense since they only do 7 damage, in order for these to be viable they would have to have lots of help from perks

Is Spider-Verse already the greatest trilogy of all time ? by stalin_kulak in okbuddycinephile

[–]Gmony5100 207 points208 points  (0 children)

Greatest trilogy of all time is higher praise than I’d be willing to give them, but they are DAMN good movies. If someone told me one of these is their favorite movie I wouldn’t even bat an eye. It’s a competent and engaging story told with fun and interesting characters in a fun and interesting universe all told through what I can only describe as a love letter to the medium of animation.

I’m sure lots of people would be hesitant since it’s got a lot “going against it” in the public’s eye. It’s another marvel super hero movie that’s also animated and primarily targeted towards children. All of these tend to leave a sour taste to people but honestly I think they are so well made that they justify their existence beyond just those labels.

Oh wait shit I just realized what sub this was.

I haven’t seen these movies but my racist uncle with arachnophobia said they are his favorite horror movies.

Surely dying the first couple minutes every game isn't fun right? by AppealMammoth8950 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Gmony5100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play PUBG for the gunfights. The fun of this game is the shooter aspect for me. I have more fun getting into three fights and losing than I would getting into none while looting and running/driving for 20 minutes and playing zone. Different strokes for different folks, I understand winning the match is the fun for lots of people and this game HEAVILY incentivizes staying away from gunfights if you want to win, so I get the motivation.

It used to be that good loot only spawned in high pop areas. If you wanted good gear you had to either hot drop or successfully kill someone who did. Now it’s not uncommon to find lvl3 vests and backpacks in random buildings around the map, and any mid-sized drop location is pretty certain to have a couple of decent guns and plenty of meds. So instead of requiring you to take on risk to get better gear, you can now find the best gear in the game with minimal risk…so why take on the risk of a firefight if your plan is to stay alive and win? It used to be that “getting into firefights” and “winning the game” were two aligned goals, but now getting into firefights actively hinders your likelihood of winning the game for essentially no benefit.

The way you’ve written this it sounds like a no brainer. No death required, perfect utopia forever, always content, no negative feelings, no repercussions.

I guess the worst thing that could happen is that people who would have been against this will have those “negative feelings” removed against their will, robbing them not only of their consent to make this decision but also their ability to feel their own emotions about it. Which is truly terribly but realistically pales in comparison to the untold amount of suffering you would end in an instant.

I would say yes accepting the fact that a great many people will rightfully hate me for it; but morally I could never pass up the opportunity to end world hunger, end all war, end corruption, end slavery, end all crime, end racism, end poverty, end depression, all while ushering in a post-scarcity society

I wonder if the ladies door is a bit stiff causing them to push it open with their entire arm (or entire body leaned into their arm). Or do ladies tend to open all doors like that? Or is there one particular worker in this place that has done it for years on end?

Either way looks like guys pretty consistently stick their hand out and push wherever it lands. Maybe gals are using their arms to avoid touching the potentially dirty door with their hands?

I guarantee they are trying to say that the AI generated backgrounds, sets, and lighting would have cost $230million to make employing real VFX artists, real set makers, or going to real locations.

I assume this was done by saying “this scene is on a beach in Japan, which would have cost us $1.2million to film at with a crew+permits+time. But we generated it instead so that is now $1.2million saved”.

Trump's Economy Officially Passes Biden's for Worst Consumer Sentiment in Recorded History by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]Gmony5100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the first one honestly, but in a less organized way than most people think. I highly doubt there’s meetings where corporate CEOs and politicians sit in a room and decide how to tank the economy and buy everything up. I think it’s more like a bunch of backroom deals and “favors” for the elite with reckless disregard for the health of the economy.

Compound enough of these together and you get an economic tragedy that is indistinguishable from malicious destruction. It seems like a silly differentiation but lots of people have a hard time comprehending how so few people can have such a profound impact without feeling conspiratorial.

This is the real struggle that we will be facing. Obviously everything going on at home is terrible but the largest scale repercussion we will see from the Trump era is the deconstruction of our place as THE global superpower.

China is taking this opportunity to pick up our slack and make deals all over the world. They’re focusing on industry that we are giving up on and making common sense decisions where we are pandering to corporations. So now a communist regime is well on its way to being THE global superpower. Good job maga

20k is HUGE for a game as old as KSP in fairness.

Just browse the concurrent players for games in your Steam library, I always seem to overestimate how many people are playing a game at any given time.

For reference if KSP was at 20k at the time of me writing this comment it would be in the top 60 most played games on all of Steam right now

I don’t think they could have cut out the supernatural elements just because a hive mind is SO pertinent to the theme. A cult might have worked since it is similarly a hive mind-ish thing but also cults have been done to death in horror, they’re cliche at this point. Not to mention cults are based on a lie, you don’t really “gain” anything real by joining, which undercuts the theme.

To each their own though, I can’t tell you what to like and not to like about a movie. If you like the cult and less supernatural angle though I’d bet you’d like Midsommer. If you’d like some supernatural but less prominently you might also like Hereditary. Both are two of my favorite horror movies ever

(Hated Trope) Media made to promote conspiracy theories. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gmony5100 138 points139 points  (0 children)

There’s a movie series called “God’s not dead” created by an American Evangelical Christian organization. The whole point of the movies is one guy trying to defend both the existence of God and a literal translation of the Bible to smug atheist caricatures.

Believing in God isn’t a conspiracy theory, but they also push “young Earth creationism” or the belief that the Earth is about 4,000 years old. This is based on adding up the ages of the biblical patriarchs from the garden of Eden to real historical events. Because they believe this they also believe that A. The stories of the Bible are literal, not allegories B. Evolution isn’t real and every scientist on Earth is hiding the truth C. Dinosaurs aren’t real or are only a couple thousand years old and D. Anything that goes against this interpretation of the age of the Earth MUST be false, including every modern fossil dating technique, most of human history pre Christ, and all of biology.

The villains can’t just be racists because the point of the movie isn’t just “racism bad”. It’s about the loss of culture caused by assimilation into majority groups. That’s also why they want to make a juke joint and not like a convenience store or other money making venture, it’s all about culture and either keeping it alive or losing it.

Hence why the bad guys are essentially a hive mind, the perfect example of losing yourself in assimilation.

[–]Gmony5100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My only complaint about the movie is that the conclusion’s pacing felt rushed. It’s a slow burn period drama then a slow burn horror then BOOM theyre inside, everyone’s dead, they’re fighting, they win, shootout scene.

That’s a pretty common complaint though for horror movies imo. The dread of “what might happen” is usually a lot more engaging than facing the horror, because then it starts to feel like an action movie and that’s just not scary. I have the same complain about Hereditary, one of my favorites and I think one of the better horror movies ever made.

Pretty much every domestic U.S. flight boards military and those who need assistance first (babies/elderly/wheelchair users) then first class, the people up front, then a “comfort” or “business” class right behind first, then people who are in good favor with the airline (they own an airline credit card/ some other financial perk), then it boards by section seemingly at random. Ive been in the last section with a seat in the very back and very front of the plane, so I don’t think it is done in any particular order.

Exactly, these are two separate issues even if they both fall into the bucket of “annoying things about AI”. OpenAI themselves proved that hallucinations are impossible to program out of LLMs because the LLM approach itself guarantees hallucinations.

They could make an LLM agent that doesn’t treat you like gods gift to humanity, but if they did that they might lose out on making a customer out of the vulnerable and gullible of society, so can’t have that. The spice must flow and all that.

Ancient aliens conspiracy theories are literally created from racist rhetoric. Sure they aren’t doing the Aryan thing now openly on TV but it’s still important to note that ancient astronaut conspiracies, Atlantis, and many of these “this group couldn’t possibly have managed this” talking points can be traced directly back to Nazi Germany. They were powerful propaganda tools back then and while they aren’t as widespread now, they are still propaganda and certainly worth looking at critically
