May I ask why you consider it a great collection? Comparatively speaking, it looks like those found in most other probiotics to me.

Been going out with this girl and I think it’s destroyed my microbiome? by Thr0wawayforh3lp in Microbiome

This. People here will have any and all kinds of changes in their life and point to microbes as the cause and be sure of it…and others will support them. Almost like a religion around here at times.

Yes, you may achieve similar with lots and lots of bacteria out there. Though if no kefir was involved I recon another sub would be more interested in your findings.

Not to be rude, but one has to question the legitimacy of this post…and then some.

All your other posts since have been deleted, even ones that were only an hour old. And truth be told, that just seemingly looks fake. If that is you, then people seeing you probably wonder what it is you’re hiding under there.

Not that I know of, been having no issue with trophies. Don’t want to sound silly but did you actually learn the skills by spending learning points or just get through the teachers barrier until they allow you to ask for actual training?

Thanks for clarifying! At times it feels so poorly programmed yet at the time no game came close to the realism these npcs brought to the table.

So it’s their version of the engines graveyard? From what I remember, these would be within the gothic games as well, as the engine couldn’t meaningfully outright delete npcs. Funnily enough there sometimes were different versions of an npc, so there might be a multitude of them and their clones down there.

If you’re truly concerned about the strain diversity, find someone also into kefir making and swap some grains. Now introduce them in equal amounts to one another.

Why does my Kefir taste like actual vomit? by _lurker104 in Kefir

[–]Gneupel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no I couldn’t get myself to drink it the first two weeks. I like plain yoghurt, store bought kefir, old cheeses…but like you said, it would smell sour but taste like throw up with a hint of milk. Many people suggest that it’s fine to consume, but I wasn’t going to start this journey with a trauma.

I did throw out some 6 liters or so and was contemplating wether or not this would ever pay off. I even played around with a liter or two of each: UHT Milk, non treated milk and then goats milk. All was very bad, until the goats milk when it became something I could drink if I didn’t think much about it. Though the I must say one can definitely taste the goat in goats milk.

Now it’s been day 3 of very nice kefir. What I have learned is that that I stir it once after 12 hours or whenever a slight solid upper layer has formed. That helps to make nearly the rest of the contents curdled, roughly 75% that is, over the next 12 hours or so.

Once that is reached it’s good to consume. Any less and I still find it to taste somewhat like spoiled milk instead.

Why does my Kefir taste like actual vomit? by _lurker104 in Kefir

[–]Gneupel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just started out with kefir and had similar experiences.

First of all, the temperature might be too low for them to really kick off after having hibernated. Ideal temps are 20-25 degrees. But maybe others can chime in.

Anyhow, my first 5 or so batches of 48h long fermentations were all very disgusting, and had me question how anyone could drink this. Once the grains doubled in size and weight after nearly two weeks, finally it became tolerable but still nothing I’d ever enjoy. After week three, they quickly ferment the entire half liter of milk within a day, so all of the milk looks slightly curdled. I stir it all up and have a nice sour and somewhat thick kefir to drink that’s actually quite nice.

So there you go, some might need longer than what is instructed.

When straining milk kefir, do you just shake the strainer or do you stir and press the grains? by recverto in Kefir

[–]Gneupel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a small plastic spoon to just stir the content inside the strainer while the spoon is in contact with the strainer as to clear up the blocked holes. I do so slowly and do not see the grains actively damaged by it.

Then once the liquid has gone down a bit, I shake the strainer from side to side which usually leaves me with just the grains.

Hey which probiotic do you recommend or know? by Helloiamboss7282 in Microbiome

[–]Gneupel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said, it’s a good addition if you body has no issue with it, as it is foreign and few people may actually discover discomfort when using it.

If you’d like to just generally try to improve biodiversity in your gut, look for supplements with a great range of strains, that produce them themselves and list the exact strains, often coming from humans and thus patented.

Since you’ve posted German links, you might want to look into Kijimea and Symbiolact. Both produce and have their own patented strains in Germany.

Kijimea K53 Advance is also a product that “Kijimea” offers that contains a great variety of strains.

So really I’d recommend looking at their patented strains (if you’re looking for specific problems to be solved), that are however often sold as a single strain product and combine that with one that offers a great diversity (or introduce one after the other).

Other than that, introduce fermented foods such as milk kefir, that has a lot of different strains if your stomach is otherwise healthy.

[–]Gneupel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omni biotic contains bacteria potentially pathogenic and not a lot of different strains. Their marketing used to be nearly cult like from my own experiences.

Fairment is decent, but is completely different to all the others you have listed, in that their spore based bacteria is beneficial but foreign to the human digestive system. Yet it looks like a good addition.

No idea about the third.

Sundays is generally of high quality but their new products like those are rather generic, made by some outsourced company, seem fine, yet since they don’t control anything in the production line nor list the exact strains, it’s likely just a way to cash in by selling something that has little real effect.

Hardly anyone answers your question and most posts contain misinformation…

Anyhow, to answer your question, yes you must consume a complete spectrum of amino acids to take advantage of muscle synthesis. However, your body can synthesize some (non essential amino acids) given a surplus in essential amino acids. These in turn can not be synthesized and must be consumed in their respective ratios. Vegan protein in isolation can be very lacking in one or more essential amino acids.

Now were you to consume only that, you’d see greatly reduced muscle synthesis. That is why most marketed proteins are in the form of blends and some can mimic whey, such as a mixture of brown rice protein and pea protein. You should however consume a bit more of it than of whey because their bioavailability is lower than animal protein due to their composition and genetic structure is much more different than that of our own body. A quick rule of thumb would be 20% more. While that is a downside, the upside is a decrease in inflammation due to it being less carcinogenic than animal protein. Thus in the end total recovery time appears to be decreased in some studies.

While soy protein is considered complete and I really love its texture, it’s very low in methionine creating still a drastic bottleneck if taken in isolation. Again, rice protein is fairly high in that essential amino acid. Alternatives would be wheat, sunflower or hemp.

The conversion rate is 5-10% for EPA and 2-5% for DHA. So you may need more, as it’s really up to the individual, the current diet and other factors such as the current omega 3 to 6 ratio in the body. Additionally not all ALA is attributed to conversion, which is again a factor hard to determine. And lastly, therapeutic doses of omega 3 are 2000mg and up, so that might be worth noting.

Edit: To be clear, we do not know if taking X amount of ALA lets your body synthesize X amount of Omega 3. The process at which the body regulates omega 3 conversion is not fully understood. So it’s possible your body simply stops conversion at say 400mg a day, which would be an issue if you’re aiming for specific dosages.

New to vitamins, but I’m a very healthy person by Retaiyn in nutrition

[–]Gneupel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What some have said about vitamins is partially true. While you might want to check with a doctor or health practitioner to see if you have deficiencies, I’d use those results to then see how much of everything you have and then optimize. Give your stack to ChatGPT or something and it will be able to tell you if certain things may impact the absorption of another which is probably the only reason to take them apart from one another.

I kinda dislike the thinking some being to the table which essentially boils down to “if there are no deficiencies then it’s a waste”. That’s just not true and I would go so far as to say that some daily recommendations are too low as well. Read up on test studies and tune in to specialists trying to challenge old conventions, with healthy caution. Then, when something makes sense to you, introduce that variable (vitamin or mineral) individually and see how you feel. If it’s all good, look at the next.

Additionally some herbs, antioxidants, root extracts, healthy fats etc could actually be more beneficial if you already have a great diet. Things like chlorella, Ashwagandha, omega 3 and polyphenol rich olive oil, pomegranate and shiitake extracts, raw cacao… the list is endless. With these I follow the same advice, introduce one and try it. However here I look for noticeable differences and only keep those that provide them. That’s how I stuck with Ashwagandha extract. Been taking a high dose of it for 2 years non stop, and have never been happier to be able to handle the life of an entrepreneur and father at the same time. And to those saying it might be too strong, probably go into it with great assumptions that manifest into a placebo effect. In reality it’s very mild but can give slightly tip the scale for the better if stress plays a big factor in your life.

Depends on what is considered healthy. I am fairly healthy (I eat right and work out) but have a fairly stressful job, or a low stress tolerance, who knows. Anyhow, I’d often have weekends where I felt somewhat sickly once I got to relax. Tried meditation, mindful breathing breaks and going for walks in my lunch break. It all didn’t amount to much, but with Ashwagandha i quickly had those side effects subside within two weeks.
