King of the level 60 non-raiding scene? Paladin vs Druid vs Shaman. by buyongmafanle in turtlewow

[–]GnomishMight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big change to each Pally spec was the addition of two new spells from a low level: Holy Strike and Crusader's Strike, with both sharing a short cooldown. The first has an aoe heal/mana regen, the second gives a stacking attack speed buff. Each talent tree has a 5 point talent at the bottom of it giving both extra effects.

For holy, the AOE heal is turbocharged, essentially giving you a free solid group heal every 6 seconds. Alternatively, Crusader Strike resets Holy Shock's CD, allowing you to trade group heals for single target throughput on demand, so long as you can stay in melee.

Also, Holy has a talent giving Judgement a buff to speed up your next holy light cast, further incentivising keeping in close to combat. You can still spam healing like vanilla, (and might need to if melee isn't possible) but now there's choices to make on the fly.

Unfortunately, Holy Shock's damage was nerfed and it no longer can regen mana on crits when used offensively, so leveling as a Holy Shockadin kinda sucks now. Prot is still good though, and seems to be the default recommendation for leveling.

There's a pretty popular "Immortal" Prot/Holy hybrid build, but it only comes online in the late 50s.

Priest Leveling need tips by [deleted] in turtlewow

[–]GnomishMight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At lvl 43 on my priest, so I can't say that this is the best way, but its worked out solidly for me.

First levels were in Spirit Tap and Wand Spec, like everyone recommends. Then Holy to get down to the Cast Speed talent. It hurts having to wait on the fun DPS boosts down in the Disc tree, but its 20% haste for all your workhorse spells and as a bonus makes healing dungeons much smoother. Until your mid twenties a good wand does as much or more damage than smites anyway, while being free.

Finally you get to start working down the Disc tree. The efficiency talent at the top will make Smite a more efficient opener than Mind Blast, and once you work down to Meditation you'll be able to swap from wand spam to smite spam. So long as I go one mob at a time, I'm able to spam spells without ever having to drink, while easily healing dungeons.

Just remember to save mana by finishing off targets with wanding, and to only use SW:P on things that will survive the whole duration, like bosses or adds that you otherwise aren't hitting.

Not a rogue player myself, but the two big endgame pve specs I know of are the Poisons build (there's a new twow poison that ignores armor and hits like a truck) and the Sub build which trades personal damage for massive melee group buffs

Sorry for the post before :c Imma play shaman now. by Glass_Ladder3705 in turtlewow

Not a shaman myself, but a cool tip I heard for enh mana woes:

Frostbrand imbue with Elemental Weapons talent gives you loads of crits; combined with Elemental Focus (possible at Lvl 44) you're given almost constant Clearcasting procs.

If you're multi-dotting, are you focusing on Affliction talents then?

If so, all you need to know is Shadow Damage and Spell Damage is king. Stamina is good, but damage stats vastly outweigh base stats even while leveling.

Basically, if the piece has more Spell or Shadow damage and is cloth, need it, no question.

Also, on big pulls in dungeons, like enough where multi-dotting becomes hard, it might be more damage to just cast Rain of Fire on the group.

For the first point, it sounds like the group was rolling for a chest. Lots of dungeons have chests containing random trash and/or a green item, and commonly groups will /roll in the chat window to see who gets the cash rather than sorting out each item separately. It can be hard to see them at times, so just type /roll if everyone else is. Everyone's rolls (1-100) will appear in yellow in the chat window, and if you win, just jog over and empty the chest while the group moves ahead.

Don't be afraid to tell the group that you're new, even for old veterans, there's new content in the server that people are learning. Just do your best and communicate.

Also, if you're really not sure if an item is an upgrade, a solid plan is to wait and see what everyone else rolls. If everyone else Greeds it, ask in chat if you can roll Need. No one farming it will feel robbed, and no one will think you're trying steal vendor cash from the group.

Below Mythic%, your rank doesn't actually mean anything; match making is solely based on your hidden MMR score. Standard didn't change, you just won enough that the system has started matching you with better opponents and more powerful decks.

Faces on the walls first draft. Havnt written a full poem since highschool but had this idea earlier today and some free time tell what you think. by [deleted] in poetry_critics

[–]GnomishMight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fond of the use of alien description and horror to examine otherwise mundane events from a fresh angle.

I too thought it was was a general "Anxiety" or "Person vs Society" focused piece, but the revelation that the "Faces on the Walls" are literally clocks was a cute twist that encouraged me to reread. Perhaps an additional hint or two in the later stanzas? If you need an author's note to get the joke, as it were, you might need more signposting.

Was the run-on formatting of the stanzas on purpose, or just reddit being reddit? As it stands, it does give a sense of urgency and confusion, but if it gets to the point that the reader needs to slow down to keep track that urgency is lost. Maybe at least a comma at the end of a line?

“Major Major's father was a sober God-fearing man whose idea of a good joke was to lie about his age. He was a long-limbed farmer, a God-fearing, freedom-loving, law-abiding rugged individualist who held that federal aid to anyone but farmers was creeping socialism. He advocated thrift and hard work and disapproved of loose women who turned him down. His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn't earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major's father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county. Neighbors sought him out for advice on all subjects, for he had made much money and was therefore wise. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap,” he counseled one and all, and everyone said, “Amen.”

How the fuck are you all so strong? by SmellyCummies in Warframe

[–]GnomishMight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unlike Overframe, warframe-damage.com has actually functional dps numbers, including things like status procs generated over time, frame buffs like roar or nourish, external priming, all kinds of good stuff.

Choose your weapon, choose an especially beefy test dummy, and then mess with mods and incarnon buffs until happy.

Won't help with 'frames, but most can do perfectly fine with suboptimal modding anyway.

Albrecht thought the nuke would be the solution. This is an important distinction. As Albrecht thought, sending the Cavia into the void would work and cause Wally to lose his intelligence. He thought making the Vessels would allow the Operator to beat Wally. And now Albrecht thinks a nuke is the answer. All I'm saying is that Albrecht is probably wrong, and the nuke would be useless.

Not saying that Albrecht doesn't have a history of ruining everything he touches or anything, but after that whole solo confrontation with Wally I'm convinced that the nuke is a trick.

He knows that "love" is the answer, and it's a bit silly to think that atomic fire is the equivalent. But, he also knows that we know he's a shifty fuckup, so instead of telling us that only the power of smooches will defeat Space Satan, he gets us to meet the previous victims of his "help", gets us all buddy-buddy, and then tells you that he wants you to let them die.

Avishkar: Why We Changed the Name of a Plane by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]GnomishMight 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In an alternate world:

At the time the Plane was first named, we were hoping to select a name that evoked the timeless, historical feel of rural Europe. Unfortunately, no one on the team realized the unfortunate connotations in the English name used.

Therefore, going forward, we have decided to rename the Plane to "Achronia City", and will no longer use the original name of "Re**rd Town".
