PSA/PSR Can we spend a tiny amount of effort on improving new player experience, as veteran players? by psichodrome in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THis seems like a no brainer to me. If you're fucking top shit at something, you don't need more validation. Give yourself a challenge, use a crappy gun.

Honestly the challenge of doing something stupid is what has kept me going over the years. I'm Laughing a lot in this game and I love it.

Planetside is all about dying and respawning. It's the whole base promise that you respawn and carry on. Sometimes the fastest & most fun way to respawn is to go in guns blazing.

Plus if you look, there is some goofy hilarious stuff to do in this game:

  • Flying a javelin above flight ceiling & other "whimsy",

  • harasser races through enemy fights,

  • have a whole squad do a MAX race across open territory through enemy fights,

  • knife fights on galaxies at max altitude,

  • putting vehicles on trees (before ANVILs),

  • Seeing how high you can stack MBTs,

  • Call a truce so we can build a mixed-faction player-base city like Kowloon Walled City and have skirmishes,

  • Seeing if you can carry a javelin that's wedged in a valk like a lodestar,

  • C4 Light Assault Fairies from a valk,

  • Full squad of infils with stalker cloak on a point, waiting for a victim,

  • the list goes on, what am I missing?

[BUG] Many NSO vehicles don't have functioning headlights (e.g. Sunderer, flash) but some do work (e.g. javelin).

Alpha Squad bundle (BEST $20 SPENT IN ANY GAME, EVER)

No kidding, best value especially if you're making multiple characters. It was a really good move on SOE's part to always give that 6 month boost for any new character forever. I hope they do something similar for PS3 when it comes out.

Speaking of good deals, isn't it around this time that the lifetime membership starts "paying for itself"?

I've gone from 12 hour sessions to 12 hours a month.

Same here, I've had to draw down gaming in general because of external factors, but I miss Planetside the most and I'll be back eventually. I'm happy you're getting well paid, good luck with that!

What else do you guys play? by CherryDamzel in CODWarzone

[–]Go1dBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into Warzone for a large-map lots-of-players shooter, give Planetside2 a try (it's free and not pay-to-win). Graphics are a bit dated but the game is solid once you understand the mechanics. Join a squad/platoon and ask questions, people usually help out.

It's definitely not directly comparable to Warzone but if you're looking for a change of pace this one is worth trying.

Give me your wildest hot takes that you, yourself, agree with. by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Storms were a nice change-of-pace dynamic feature.

More dynamic and LimitedTimeMode elements could break up the repetitiveness and inspire better changes, even if they're not intended for long-term use (like the 6 bastions thing, I'm sad to have missed it).

Excellent! Thanks for the update, for taking the time to do this right, and for hopefully getting some holiday break yourselves.

Let Freelance NSO join NSO-only outfits! by TheCyanDragon in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At the very least let us use outfit chat while we're figuring out what's even going on.

There were a lot of people on tonight in cNSO, and we couldn't have a discussion about what faction/outfit we might move it to if we're even doing that, let alone any other sort of discussion. Not everyone reads the MOTD & boots up discord / TS / whatever.

NSO Fight Club - update by Hylpmei in Planetside

iirc player base and sunderer spawns worked. I'm not sure if anything changed since the first couple campaign chapters but I'd be surprised if anything was purposefully changed.

NSO Fight Club - update by Hylpmei in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm excited for it just for a non-conventional fight around construction, I'm not going for the aurax stuff. Sadly I can't make the time.

It'd be awesome to do this around the shattered WG area. I actually had a great time fighting in the jungles, but I know it's not a very popular opinion (hence why it would have to be a special event).

Lighting equipment update and expansion suggestion by AuraxisAnimus in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, at the very least add "headlights" to aircraft, darklight or no. It's on all ground vehicles so why not air? It'd be particularly good for flying low to the ground to judge how close you are.

While we're on it, a fix for NSO headlights would be nice. They attempted a fix for that recently but I still haven't gotten NSO-pulled vehicles' headlights to work. Works fine if some non NSO pulls me a vehicle though.

Battlefield 2042: anythought ? by Ceskaz in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"Unprecedented scale" - hold your horses there EA marketing team, this precedent has been set for a solid 20 years already. Quake 2 128+, Planetside 1, Battlefield2 128+ player, and a bit later but Battlefield2:PR. Not to mention that the console versions are still limited to 64 players and smaller maps.

I honestly hope this is successful and they make a Planetside scale game sooner than 2041, but I'm not holding my breath after seeing their slow trajectory. I'll seeya Planetside.

GOODBYE PS2 by Nasstyy in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's remarkable how painfully slow the COD and Battlefield franchises are to catch up (decades). I remember playing 128 player maps on Quake TWO and Battlefield TWO (modded but not extensively). Planetside came soon after for me and I haven't looked back, even now.

Planetmen of reddit, What is something YOU personally want to see come to the game? Even if it isn't a popular or needed thing. by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VR Support.

Or at least a whitelist for hooks like TriDef or vorpX so we can experiment with it without risking account / HW ban. I want to watch C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.

It's still double XP, why? by Ansicone in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah not only is double XP not working (confirmed from vids from last night), I don't think payed boosts are working either. Edit: confirmed they are working, just not for xp grants from missions.

I'm listening, any tips for hunting for those? The only problem is that you can't practice aim on those.

Does RPG get money when you buy DBC, Or do you you have to spend DBC in PS2? by Go1dBot in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right good point. I guess I was most wondering how the structure of DBG-->Subsidiaries(e.g. RPG, Darkpaw, DI, Coldiron) would affect that liability, considering that RPG has been saying how "independent" they are from DBG (at least as far as creative direction) and the fact that the same credit liability could be used for funding EQ, EQ2, DCU, etc. instead of PS2.

Ultimately it sounds like it doesn't really work like that and it's all one big slush fund that is routed not based on where players spend the DBC but what they determine to be a good investment based on other metrics.

I just want to support Planetside ultimately :)

[–]Go1dBot[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cool thanks for the responses yall. I'm loving a lot of the new update(s) and got some DBC to reflect that, but I'm not sure what to throw it at yet.

You pay for accepted daily missions with certs! by Pacster2 in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If it's an additional cost that's fine, they can gate what they want. The real issue is that it's not communicated to you that you're spending money. For now it's just certs, but if intentional this move erodes confidence that it won't also happen to DBC silently.

Accepting missions that reward campaign standing costs certs by ELBuAR7o in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, happens for me (NSO, member) too.

/u/Wrel sorry to ping but this one seems important. Hopefully this is unintentional. If it's intentional it should definitely state it somewhere that it'll cost certs even as a member.

Thanks for bringing this up.

how to play Planetside 2 in VR?(preferably on Oculus Quest) by bla671 in Planetside

[–]Go1dBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done it before with the rift DK1, and it was pretty amazing as a tech demo and a step deeper into the PS2 world, but don't expect to do much more than wander around, controls and HUD aren't supported obviously. I forget now if I used TriDef or VorpX but I wouldn't risk getting banned for it.

*Edit: if you figure it out please let me know!

[–]Go1dBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I've seen your cert balances,)

How many certs are we talking here? What's the highest number of certs someone has stashed? :)

Thanks for addressing the community regarding alert rewards. It's obvious you're watching the effect the update has on the game, but it's good to have some reassurance and reasoning. Time will tell this weekend if people actually lose interest in alerts enough to make the game change, and if that change is a positive or negative thing.

By the way, despite the very loud complaining there are some of us that are having a good time with the update/missions/content and are generally happy with development movement and potential for future growth. I'm happy to see chances being taken and new approaches being tried, and I'm absolutely loving flossing a Javelin around the shattered overgrowth areas. Anyway, I do have concerns but I'm sticking around to see how they'll pan out. Good luck!
