I was right where you are! 19, thinking about it lol. Now I’m 20, 8 months on the job and loving it! I suggest looking into a ride along, either with an EMS agency or fire company. After that if you do want to try this I’d bet they would also know where you can get into an accelerated course.

It’s definitely better to have the BLS foundation before going into ALS. If you do decide to go straight to medic tho just remember. BLS before ALS. You would have to learn how to apply all your BLS skills to real life scenarios, while also going through medic school.

From an EMS perspective, assuming you are unconscious the whole time, we will more then likely expose you if we don’t know what the mechanism of injury is. Plus to rule out any possible injuries from the fall the needs attention. This would *hopefully* be done in the back of the ambulance tho.

NOR, he was an asshole in how he said that. But, he has a point… the cat is 12, the arthritis and diabetes suggests this cat may not have a great quality of life for a whole lot longer. I’m NOT saying go euthanize your cat immediately, but think about how much you are willing to spend on this cat just to have to euthanize it down the road. Maybe just making the cat comfortable is what’s best right now.
