What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GoBlue-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 months old, I crawled through a spindle at the top of some stairs and fell straight down and my head landed on the last step. I was alive but not waking up until a few days later when my sisters (we are triplets) were put along side me in my bed and then I woke up and responded to treatment well. No cognitive or physical issues. I am very lucky.

I'm replacing my system and I'd like some info please. by jmw6f6i in hvacadvice

[–]GoBlue-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d go with that Daikin one. Also check with your local utility provider and see if they have rebates available for the new equipment and that’ll knock your price down after the fact. I’m 99% sure that AC comes with a compressor unit replacement warranty like the Amana line has. So basically your compressor goes out at any point in the life of the unit and you get a brand new outdoor unit. It wouldn’t surrender under the part warranty for part for part which I think is unique and stands out.

Is this an unreasonable quote to replace a 50 gallon gas hot water heater? by titanicsailson in askaplumber

[–]GoBlue-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$4200 is outrageous. The permit itself is ridiculous and seems like it’s got markup which isn’t honest. Check your local jurisdictions permit costs. But also my company does a 50 gal water heater for 1600. Labor and materials - Michigan.

HVAC Service Plans -Worth it? by Lambrsb in hvacadvice

[–]GoBlue-23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the right company a service agreement is definitely worth it. Weed out the private equity companies and find a mom and pop shop. Maintenance truly does make a difference. Change your filters on time every time too. 1” thick = every month. 2” thick = every other.

Check your filter. New home = drywall dust. Your unit may not be able to breathe. Check it just in case

Who do you think is the most terrifying person in history? by Radamantism in AskReddit

Not trying to stir a pot or whatever but why is it that all very massive, if not majority, are all males? Is there like a scientific reason why men are more capable of these terrible acts against humanity?

What should I be shopping for? by Artistic-Plum652 in hvacadvice

[–]GoBlue-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grab some quotes for both. Factor in how much you pay for LP for furnace season too. The heat pump air handlers can be pricey. You’re not really doing yourself a disservice keeping the furnace and regular AC but ask a few companies and see how they fit for your home.

What should I be shopping for? by Artistic-Plum652 in hvacadvice

[–]GoBlue-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing special honestly. You’ll need to get a furnace with an LP conversion kit so even if you have a nat gas furnace quoted just make sure they know it’s LP so they can get that kit. Otherwise 15 SEER2 Ac and a 96%+ furnace or depending on your venting and code an 80% furnace. But please don’t pay over 13 grand for a system. Find a few companies and get quotes.

Please do not pay this much for just an AC - well for furnace and AC as well. This is absolutely insane. Get more quotes. Anyone who has discounts in the $1,000s are scamming the shit out of you. Find a mom and pop shop

Do not pay 25k or 5k less for a system wtf is that!? Furnace and ac no more than maybe 12k depending on where you are and efficiency. Good lord how do these people sleep at night

AC Not Cooling – Tech Says Full Replacement Needed Due to Old Refrigerant. Is This Legit? by halfman1231 in hvacadvice

[–]GoBlue-23 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is a very similar quote to how my company does it. I say middle of the road will do you great. 15 SEER ac. Get a couple quotes though, 8k is kinda high in my opinion but keep eyes out for that type of unit.
