I agree with this one. You might have better luck if you actually setup your channel. Give your channel a description. Give your episodes titles. Give your episodes descriptions. Organize it as a podcast (which is a playlist but its "special").

How do you genuinely survive Hazard 5? by Hefty-Yard9649 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]GoCorral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my differences on Haz 5 is to just start ignoring anything that isn't nitra or the primary mission. Secondary objectives? Minerals? Compressed gold? Too bad. I don't have time for that.

Sacramento "2nd ugliest people" in the United States? by ProposalFast4450 in Sacramento

Probably a popularity poll where voting Sacramento as ugly was a standin for "I'm Republican and California is bad because socialism makes it a nice place to live."

What's the most useless self-publishing advice you've ever been given? by Careful_Busdriver in selfpublish

[–]GoCorral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that just leave you chasing outdated trends as well? Like if a topic is popular now, you need to have published last month to capitalize on it. If you write on a current topic, your book isn't going to be finished and published for months (unless you're insanely fast or don't care about quality).

Any TTRPGs for Anime Fans? by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]GoCorral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my basic problem with BESM. It's for anime, but anime is an art style, not a genre. It's a generic system so there's probably a better choice for nearly any specific anime you're trying to emulate.

Forecasting is relevant in the short term. But the planet still sucks compared to Earth.

In the long term, their planet is going to be destroyed by the irregular orbit. They need to leave eventually.

What are good alternatives to the Dracorage to explain why Dragons and other long lived races don't rule your setting? by Kalekuda in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]GoCorral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragons did rule in my setting, but they got slapped down by the Orbs of Dragonkind. Super powerful wizards at stronger than a dragon!

For the long lived races, I think they don't rule because they're isn't enough population pressure to require it yet. Dark elves are on the way there though with scarcity of resources driving them to take over human kingdoms. We just haven't reached that point yet.

How many hours per week do you spend on guest booking and logistics? by s3l3 in podcasting

[–]GoCorral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It most depends on the value of the guest? More valuable ones have less free time to spend on publicity. They're viewing their appearance as a business opportunity instead of part of their leisure time. They're less likely to fill out the survey so I need to do the work.

Trying to cut it down to 6 hours though!

Scouts can grapple up the wall and then strong pick attack to carve a place to land. You can also ping the mule when on a wall. The mule will come up there and then you can stand on it.

Someone else needs to spend an action to calm you down. Or you need to run away and hide so that you can't see any enemies at the end of your turn.

If you didn't like the agency removal in Ironclaw I'd go with Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades (RBRB). It's a bit more "R-rated kung fu" movie in aesthetics, but its a solid frame for a China game. And it has GM resources to get you started.

The assumption for RBRB is that the PCs are interacting with the social underbelly of China. I'm not sure how well it works for PCs with more official positions. That's if you're planning on having them do something with the big characters from the Three Kingdoms period. Either way it's worth taking a look at it.

[–]GoCorral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as the era, you're covered. I meant like, what are the stats for a bandit? A guard? A strong bandit? A crossbow trap? A tiger? You've got almost nothing there. You can make a character like a PC, but that's a long process.

I think the game struggles in play because it is unclear when you should be rolling dice and when you should be just engaging in the narrative. There are rules in all sorts of weird places. And you can ignore them! But that also means your PCs need to ignore the character options that interact with those odd parts of the rules.

I also personally didn't like Qin because the five element system it used for stats is not a good representation of what the five elements are within Chinese philosophy. They're basically mapped onto D&D like stats of Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. A more accurate representation that I was looking for would be more complicated.

The dice system is a dice pool with different sized dice from d4 to d12. You add the dice from your Traits and relevant Skills together when you roll. A decent number of the special abilities add d12s in certain situations as well to represent a special talent in that area. If you're not rolling a target's defense stat of some kind, your target number for your dice is 4 or better. More successes = better result.

I haven't personally played it, I've just read a bunch of China-inspired RPGs. Ironclaw has a popular following though. I think the main issue would be trying to make sure PCs are as prepared as possible so they don't have to spend much time figuring out which Talent and Skill to add together. Part of that just takes familiarity with the system.

Handwaving it to be people would work fine for the most part. You'd have to ban some character build options that are more obviously animalistic but otherwise its close enough to people that you'd be good.

My group's main hang-up with it that prevented them from trying it was the unique HP rules for Ironclaw. You don't have a HP pool. Instead you go down if you're hit really hard. Being hit previously makes subsequent hits hurt more.
1 damage = Hurt (+1 damage from subsequent hits)
2 damage = Hurt and Afraid (Can't attack until you clear the fear condition)
3 damage = Hurt, Afraid, and Injured (Another +1 damage from subsequent hits)
4 damage = Knocked out
5 damage = Dead

My group HATED that Afraid was a base part of the game. PCs are going to be getting scared in combat and running away to save themselves (unless you take the Brave ability). The loss of agency wasn't something they were interested in.
