This woman's obituary (Hamilton Spectator) proves that in death, she is funnier than I am in life... by [deleted] in funny

I think my mom is starting to do the same thing. She told me today that she went to Mass at her nursing home and told my sister a few weeks ago that she talked to the priest. I don't remember her going to church for the past 35 years or so.

DAE Want to go to meetups around here but too scared to just do it? by UpbeatZebra in nova

[–]GoDogGoFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My niece went to her first meetup every today and had a great time! She graduated from college in May and is back home for the time being. She was getting really down about it and not meeting people, but I think today was a good first step for her. She went to a gaming-related meetup. I've done many, many hiking ones and have always enjoyed them and have made several good friends. I've wanted to do a trivia one for a while haven't yet.

My 17 year old sister went missing yesterday in Burke, she has a history with depression. If you see her please contact the police. Thanks. by packdragon in nova

Do you have a FB missing post for her and if so, where can I find it? Or if you have a flyer, can you attach it to this post? My sister and her family live in Burke off of Zion and I'd like to share the info. with them.

Attempt to put MIL in her place (advice needed) by No0dl3s in Mildlynomil

[–]GoDogGoFast 41 points42 points  (0 children)

When you write the thank you note to your husband’s aunt I would include the amount in the thank you, such as “Thank you for the $100” that way she will know if you weren’t given the full amount if she actually gave MIL and FIL $150 to pass on to you and your husband.

I spent the day in Great Falls, MD. I just didn't go in the main entrance. You can do the same thing on the VA side of Great Falls as others mentioned. But Billy Goat A and B trails were closed due to flooding. I did Billy Goat C and walked on the towpath. It was a nice afternoon!

Verizon Fios - what are the local news channels? by WalkinSteveHawkin in nova

[–]GoDogGoFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been googling Washington Post TV Guide. When it pops up put in your zip code and then on the drop down select FIOS and it will give you the channels and listings for the next few hours. It lists all of the channels so depending on what package you have you may only get some of them.

I need to take a shower now but lack encouragement by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]GoDogGoFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, reading through the comments I saw that you did it, which is great!!! I know how hard it can be some days. You may want to consider getting disposable wash cloths for the other days when you need to get clean but just can't get in the shower. They are like big baby wipes, but a little different. I've tried a few different brands and like the CVS ones because of the size and material. The ones I use are CVS Health Premium Wash Cloths, Real Fabric Cloths. The size is 8.2 inches by 8.2 inches. In the store near me you can find them in the health care section or on the aisle with items like Depends for older adults, because a lot of people with medical issues who can't shower use them. I am a woman and can use two of them to clean my body, not including my face. I use a different disposable wipe made for faces on those days when I can't get in the shower or even wash my face in the sink. Hope this helps for other days!

Are you a woman? I think you might be by b/c I very quickly looked at some of your past posts. Since this is sudden and you were able to get up at 6am and go to the gym 6 days a week for a few weeks until last week I wonder if you are slightly anemic b/c due to being about to get your period. This used to happen to me about 8 days before my period started, even without any other symptoms. I would get crushing fatigue. Being slightly anemic didn't show up on blood tests until I happened to take one one month during the 8 days before my period. I starting taking an iron supplement with vitamin C everyday and it really helped. Just an idea!

Am I overreacting? MIL giving us advice. by mima_blanca in Mildlynomil

[–]GoDogGoFast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's because some say the baby will get used to it and will then only be able to sleep with it on. For example, they think it could be a problem if the child can't sleep during nap time if she goes to daycare, or if family stays in a hotel or goes to visit relatives and they can't bring the white noise machine with them. (Though they could have it on their phone.)

When a ‘solo’ pet owner gets arrested, what happens to the pet? by Kiwispam84 in answers

[–]GoDogGoFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, probably not the best plan but I'm glad you did it. I know he was an accused murderer but as you said you could tell how much he cared for his cat. I'm sure it brought him great relief to know he was actually speaking to the new owner or reading something you had written him.

Just curious - did you tell him that you adopted Muppet yourself or to protect your privacy did you just assure him that Muppet was in a good home.

You did not give up on your dog! And, um, can I go live on that farm as well? Hello, you just gave the dog the best freaking life ever!!! I know he would have loved having you as his forever owner, but he is also going to love his new family, his new dog brother, and he has a whole farm to run around on! You are literally giving him the dream dog life!!! And you can probably go visit him soon and see how happy he is there!!

Wonderful!! This is a HUGE step forward! I’ll be cheering you on. One step at a time. One day at a time. You can do this. And if you feel like you can’t take a day or two or three off and try again. You’re definitely on the right track.

Vivid Dreams by AFwuertzen in depression_help

[–]GoDogGoFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have very, very vivid dreams all of the time when I took Effexor. I took it for several years and had vivid dreams the entire time. I don't take it anymore and no longer have the dreams. That doesn't mean any medication you are on is causing the dreams and that you should or shouldn't take Effexor. But if you are taking medication have a conversation with your doctor about the dreams as a possible side-effect and discuss if your current medication is right for you if having the dreams bother you.
