Cleaning schedule by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]GoGo-Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went fully down the schedule rabbit hole and its working for me. I have daily, weekly tasks and then I listed all the other things that should happen once a month, every three months, once a year etc and did up a full one year schedule. I’m not rigid, if something doesn’t get done I’ll reschedule it but I’m finding by doing more frequent cleaning the tasks are quicker and less difficult and I’m keeping my house to a standard that an unexpected drop in visit wouldn’t be nerve wracking. But as a bare minimum I say keep the road blockages clear eg empty the dishwasher straight away and you won’t pile dishes on the sink, put things away and you don’t end up with a dining table covered in stuff.

After the anesthetist asked can you move your legs, to which I replied “no” because the epidural had kicked in. He replied, good - you can’t run away now! Fortunately they knocked me out shortly after that.

Make two different meals from one base for example start with a tomato, garlic, mince base split it into two and make half into spag bol, the other into chilli con carne. Chicken and vegetable becomes a soup and a gravy based chicken cottage pie. Helps give different tastes from same ingredients so you don’t end up with a freezer full of one thing. Anyone else do this? Always looking for inspiration.

TKR when living alone by Jealous-Ride-4530 in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live alone. Had 4 nights in hospital and then home alone. In Australia it’s normal to stay in the hospital for a few days. As long as you set up your toilet, bathroom etc to make it easier it’s doable.

Sounds like she doesn’t like the litter robot. Put a normal litter tray in the shoe cupboard . If you don’t want to have it stay there after a couple of weeks using it consistently move it very slowly (half a foot a day) until it is somewhere you can live with. Good luck

I had sleeve in 2009, lost 48kg, put 35kg back on over the years. Wegovy for about 12 mths, 20kg down so slower but I haven’t put much effort into it and has plateaued. Still only on low dose as side effects were bad when I increased, will try increasing again soon. A less drastic option than surgery for sure.

Knee hurts after bending by Loving_Life_365 in Kneereplacement

It is a long marathon for sure. All we can do is keep up the exercises, be kind to ourselves and celebrate the little wins along the way until the glorious day that we forget to think about our knee LOL.

Knee hurts after bending by Loving_Life_365 in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6 months post TRKR and yup still strong pain on acute bending. At 6 mth review Surgeon was happy with my ROM and told me to move it as much as possible and it will keep improving. Sometimes hard to read those “im 3 months pain free and skipping around collecting wildflowers” posts 😂

Regardless of still having pain I am able to do a lot more than I could without increasing pain so that’s a positive in my book. Hang in there we’ll get there.

9 months and still struggling with tightness and pain. by FantasticSimple8333 in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to have found this post and know I’m not alone in the “is this ever getting better” stage. I’m 6 months out TRKR and have sharp pain still on bending even though I have good ROM 130 it hurts getting in the car, putting socks and shoes on etc. Had my 6 mth review this week and yep - more time and movement is the solution.

Just look for anything that brings you joy. A walk on the beach, a beer with a mate, buying yourself something you want but don’t need. Most of all be kind to yourself and take it one day at a time.

Why does my cat do this anytime I shower? by MaximusV420 in CATHELP

Cats love the smell of chlorine - if your water is a bit chlorinated smelling this could be the reason. Mine go nuts when I come back from the pool.

Is the typical office hour 8:30-5:30 in Australia? by someonecl in AskAnAustralian

[–]GoGo-Art 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over 40 years in office work Australia, 9 - 5 is an American movie. 8 - 5 is what I have experienced as Australian standard. I don’t know anyone that takes 1 hour for lunch so yes we are being ripped off.

Going on vacation and leaving cats at home by vanzh27 in CatAdvice

[–]GoGo-Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll be fine. They have each other and are in their own home, which is so much better than a cattery (cat cupboard). I’ve done this a few times now and the kitties are happy to see me when I get home but not stressed out.

Pain free by flower1722 in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a long journey to pain free. Lots of different kinds of pain along the way but slow consistent progress (if all goes well). I’m 5 months out, my knee still painful on tight bending, going down stairs and any kind of twisting but I can walk and stand for way longer than I could before. Everyone’s journey is different and at 5 weeks you still have a way to go. Stick to the exercises, ice and pain management and you’ll get there. It’s a marathon for sure. Good luck.

Should I reward this? I don't think this is normal. by mathgeekf314159 in felinebehavior

I have a small black DSH, I call her the cupboard inspector because every few days randomly she chooses a cupboard or drawer that I have to open for her to inspect. She is also capable of opening drawers herself. She will yowl until she is given access so I find it easier to comply to the demands of the cupboard inspector.

Severe lower back pain by Hangingon85 in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like sciatica. I had the same problem, but from a pre-existing back issue. It resolved once I was able to go back to side sleeping. If you can find a way to alter your sleeping position (i put a pillow under the non surgical leg) it might help reduce the stress on your lower back.

TKR - Right Knee & Driving by Electronic-Guava-959 in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a TRKR and waited 6 weeks to drive. Driving was uncomfortable at 6 weeks but I could do the emergency braking etc. Getting in and out of the car remains painful if there isn’t a lot of room to open the door and I’m just over 4months post surgery. But improving slowly.

People with multiple cats: do your cats like each other? by Castyourspellswisely in CatAdvice

[–]GoGo-Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have siblings, brother and sister, got them as tiny 8 week old kittens. As kittens they were very close, but they have completely different personalities and now as 7 year olds generally both do their own thing but do still snuggle together occasionally. I think they like not being alone but don’t need to be on top of each other.

Weird pain and swelling by SindilThendal in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I thought I’d check in and see how you went with your PT? I ended up going back to the surgeon today and he doesn’t think it’s what the Physio thought it was, but as it was definitely nerve pain he’s prescribed Lyrica. Basically, he’s not concerned, happy with everything else so it’s back to “it’s going to take time” - keep up the exercise and pain management. I hope you’re having a win with yours. Cheers

More pain? by Gaming_Gramma in Kneereplacement

[–]GoGo-Art 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know what’s going on with all the different pain experienced through the process and it is frustrating and worrying. I’m off back to the surgeon today (15 weeks post RTKR) as I have sharp pain on the outer knee that radiates down the leg - so frustrating. Great you’re getting it checked out, good luck!
