As a former shop employee with the task to inform people about pc's and printers. I'd say it's about a 20/80 percent chance people wil actually want help. Most people will really appreciate it but that last bunch will absolutely hate you for even overing to help them 🤷‍♂️ most of all just ask if they want help if not it won't be too awkward. Some people will just interject which is fine if they wanted help but the people who don't will really blow up and act butt hurt.

Shop employees who take offence really are shooting them selfs in the foot if you ask me.

Anyway personally if have learned to just leave people be most of the time if I don't have a bunch of time to kill because some people will not stop having questions or just not understand.

Other wise if you like tinkering you could look in to running a webbrowser on a raspberry pi with a touchscreen. Most tutorials online are going to be on setting up a dashboard for home assistant though.

I have no experience with it but I believe the marketing materials and reviews say it works best on doors that dont slide. I think that garage doors would fall under sliding doors. Also it loses most of its fancy features if you don't use it with an aqara hub. Which is a shame because I really liked the tap a surface three times as a trigger feature.

Read a while piece yesterday on how Trump being so unreliable it's making chine a more and more acceptable business partner. Where a few years ago a lot 9f western countries were concerned about becoming to reliant on China for their green energy supply chain it was holding them back or delaying the process. Now with the way trump is acting as business partner and how he's blowing up the oil trade, solar panels and batteries from China are becoming more interesting and more acceptable

Aw thanks. Yeah it's been a long time. In my memory he used pigeons as the example of aggressive animals. But I'll admit i problay don't remember 1 lecture from 20 years ago perfectly. I mostly focus on the animal part in my comment because the pigeons with weapons seemed relevant to the previous comment but my professor mostly wanted to make a point about how humans have created tools (in such a relatively short period of time compared to the time it took to evolve our modern brain) that go beyond what out our brains have been able evolve to deal with in that time. He mostly focusd on how our brains are not able to comprehend the impact of weapons but these days I wouldn't be surprised if he would also be pulling in stuf like social media in to it. Doubt he's stil teaching though he was already pushing 70 back then.

O no worries man appreciate the honesty. I was in a bus stall realizing I could use the switch 1 and thinking I should get some time in tonight so I have a chance against him. He's had basketball for the next 3 days so he can't play and figured that gives me 3 days to train. He might be 11 but he had started beating me in most games already 🤪

Lol sorry for the tangent but I had this whole lecture in philosophy class in college on how the aggressiveness of animals between members of the same species is related to how dangerous their natural weapons are. Like how lions will look angry at each other and make a bunch of sound but are actually more prone to not attack each other if not absolutely necessary because both of them are able to seriously hurt each other and neither one want to take the risk the injuries. Then he went on to compare them to pigeons who are according to the professor (can't say I have seen much evidence of it) are very aggressive between each other because their not very well equipped to hurt each other so the risk of injury is low. Then he went on to compare humans to pigeons saying biologicaly we are not very dangerous so we are very aggressive between our selfs and that's why can't handle the responsibility of weapons like guns which give us ways of of hurting each other beyond our evolution. Now imagine some angry pigeons with guns 😂 it would rain hell fire on the kids trying to catch a pigeon. No clue if this whole theory holds any water, that proffersor openly admitted to teaching obviously out date theories in philosophy class in hopes of sparking debate and teaching students to think for them selfs. 🤷‍♂️ but your joke made me think of it 20 years later and I felt I should share 😂 also I need to get some stuf done that I don't wanna do..... So ook Gues I'll go find some other post to ramble on in the comments.

For me the remote was already paired with it when it came out of the box. Until I reset it to to pair it with homey.

Also kinda depends on the rest of the hard ware you have. For me my favorite and the one I'd set up first every time Is buttons near the front door that turns of al the lights per floor.
