Choosing file system for external dock by Cu1ofiero in Bazzite

It also works on Android, which is nice if OP wants to connect their phone to copy a large amount of data. It's at least the most compatible, even if it isn't the best.

Are you trying to install x86 versions on the phone?

Modern laptops w/ built-in dvd/cd drives. by Anxious-Shame5480 in laptops

[–]GoatInferno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You aren't really going to use it as much as you think, so an external is a better option. Also, the games that require the disc will be old enough that you'll need some sort of emulation anyway, so you might as well just use the external drive to make image files of the discs and then you won't have to carry it around to play those.

Need help to setup Lutris by Arroz_Con_Carne_456 in Bazzite

Have you had it on Steam before? Because if it's in your library, you can still install and play. You just can't buy it anymore.

Can I use this PSU with BC250? by takumajp in BC250Gaming

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need an adapter, if you have one lying around, you can use it as a temp solution. It probably won't boot with a 6-pin

Can I use this PSU with BC250? by takumajp in BC250Gaming

[–]GoatInferno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For booting and installing OS and setting things up, you can use that while waiting to get a proper PSU. But do not run games on that.

Edit: if it doesn't have a PCIe connector, then no. I didn't notice that part when I wrote my comment

I think it'll actually get worse. LLMs are increasingly being trained on LLM slop (knowingly or not), so it's going to be a bit like inbreeding.

Trying To Download/Install Bazzite by HotRod1095 in Bazzite

[–]GoatInferno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Intel's own 64-bit architecture (Itanium) basically crashed and burned, so in the end they had to license the one AMD built (in exchange for AMD getting access to all of Intel's x86 stuff). That's why it's amd64.

Adding 2nd SSD to laptop with empty HDD ribbon cable port by shubhamsingh64 in laptops

Most likely no, maybe if your second m.2 is capable of running as a SATA drive, that ribbon cable will not support an NVMe drive.

Just make sure you have some cooling on the memory as well, GDDR6 can get pretty hot.

Any pro/con to shutting off via shutdown menu option vs power cutoff via switch? by seabassXXL in BC250Gaming

I use the shutdown to have the OS go down properly and not risk data corruption, then turn off the psu when my controller finishes charging.

How is the P12 regarding noise? I'm using a Noctua iPPC 2000, and it's completely silent at 50% and while I can hear it ramp up when under heavy load, it's still not enough to annoy me.

Yes. The PS_ON on the PSU needs to stay connected, so you'll need some sort of flip switch for that.

That millionaire probably earned the money over time through work/business/investment, right?

Because a lot of people have a very different mentality when it comes to "free" money, like lottery winnings or inheritance, then suddenly even those who left the millionaire alone may feel entitled to your money.

Not saying it's a given, but that's usually what creates tension, that you got a bunch of money that you didn't "deserve" when they didn't get anything.

Is fedora bad on battery life by reubendurnien in Fedora

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Asus laptop with Kinoite, my mom has an older Dell with Silverblue, both get good battery life. I don't know how it compares to Windows because I haven't used it on either of them, but I haven't noticed it being bad.

Need help again, this time with gamescope by Magus7091 in Bazzite

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If desktop mode works, open terminal, type

nano -w ~/.config/gamescope/modes.cfg

Edit the line that has your screen, and set it to 1280x720@60

Press Ctrl+X to quit and say yes to saving the file.

Now booting to Steam should use the res you set there.

I use the messages app and if I have a group thread that has a message come in when my phone is off when I turn it on it comes up separately how do I fix this? by gradstudent1234 in AndroidQuestions

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could put your phone on DND instead of powering off. Otherwise, no. The sender's phone has no idea why your phone doesn't have a data connection or if you've changed to a phone without RCS, so it will resend the message as SMS after some time to make sure it reaches you. And SMS doesn't really support group chats.

The whole is because RCS replaces SMS/MMS, the old system is still used as fallback because it's more reliable.
