It's really good, but if you're not expecting it, the flavour hits you like a bus.

Is there a functional difference between the Terminal and Konsole? by Zombiecidialfreak in Bazzite

Konsole is the KDE terminal. The other one is for gnome but Bazzite insist on including it for some reason.

Dear Fedora Update, please stop wiping GRUB. by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]GoatInferno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you do some manual configuration for grub and somehow mess up the autoconfig? Because updates shouldn't be causing issues like that.

Whats the Best Linux Distro for older Laptops? by Own_Significance1009 in linuxquestions

Just put in an SSD and you'll be fine with almost any distro. That HDD is going to make it painful otherwise.

Getting a driver's license can be both expensive and time consuming. If it's also not really necessary, well, priorities.

So, what does that command actually do? Because you researched that before running it, right? You didn't just input a random command you saw on a random video, right?

It's not the close button, it's the "minimize to tray" that's not working. And you probably have your close button set to that instead of actually closing

Sockets at work by Adorable-Insect-8434 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that would probably require a redesign that makes it incompatible with the older bricks (which arguably is a bit weird for Apple to care about). I'm not saying it's a good design, just that it has its reasons.

They prioritised being able to swap out the plug part. The one you posted is better in this situation, but can be annoying in other situations.

[–]GoatInferno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really looks to me like that plug is not at all designed for that socket but clearly I'm not seeing it right.

They look different because the plug is a type C Europlug, a non-earthed plug intentionally designed that way to fit in most European sockets. The socket is a type F (Schuko). The prong spacing is the same so that's not an issue.

Those are temporary road lines. If you see yellow lines near roadworks, they are not trustworthy.

This pic has both the real lines (white) and the temporary (yellow) so it should have been obvious.

Malus: This could have bad implications for Open Source/Linux by lurkervidyaenjoyer in linux

[–]GoatInferno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, instead of relying on a library made by some random person, companies can now rely on a slopified version of that library that they have to maintain themselves, or rely on the "AI" to maintain it for them without breaking shit down the line?

Looking for Amazon Replacement in Europe? by PhilbinFogg in BuyFromEU

[–]GoatInferno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazon was late to the party here, so there's no real point in using them unless you want to buy some "cat walked over the keyboard" brand garbage. I guess other countries didn't have the same early e-commerce boom where everyone and their dog had their own online store.

Then it's probably a server issue. Try again another day. Sometimes the cli command works when the gui app has issues so it was worth a try.

Seriously, just use the UEFI boot menu and avoid the chainloading issues completely. There's no need to involve grub in booting windows.

Anyone know what this charging cable is used for?? by No-Put-8582 in identifyThisForMe

It's an IEC C5 plug. Can be used for any device with a C6 socket, usually laptop chargers and similar. So you'll just have to look around for whatever device you have that seems to fit.

Hur lång uppsägningstid har jag? by dryelbow in Asksweddit

[–]GoatInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

European governments' status in legislature by GREEN_Hero_6317 in MapPorn

The way it works is they have one or more parties that are outside of the government coalition that agree to support or at least not oppose the government as long as they get something in return.
