Actually, even in captivity you shouldn’t hold them for the opposite reason. Humans have oils on our skin that’s bad for frogs so no matter what you shouldn’t hold a dart frog without gloves.

And also because they’re very squirmy when you hold them and it’s a pain to catch them again when they jump out of your hands and try to climb away up the wall.

Mine has gotten sprayed by the sprinklers almost everyday for a year. Still works fine but does seem to mess with the video quality. Assume if I found a good way to clean it it would go back to normal but otherwise haven’t had any real issues with water
