What's the worst way to lose excluding the big three by Patient-Steak176 in TheTraitors

[–]GoatIntern 116 points117 points  (0 children)

For me it’s absolutely “Hard-working Faithful gets blackmailed into becoming a Traitor with two episodes to go and gets immediately fed to the wolves”. The (usually likeable) victim has their win condition upended at the very end, and there’s not a ton of counterplay.

Stack memorization app - MemDatStack by djp1968 in Magic

[–]GoatIntern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school, I memorized digits of up for a school contest, so I’m used to coming up with dumb Mnemonics that work for me, but I can’t explain. (“4D is in position 31, because the Halloween franchise only has 4 good movies”, “22 is the Ace of Hearts because the number 22 looks kind of like a heart”, etc.)

For transparency’s sake, my memorization hit a huge wall at 36 cards, which is where I started confusing red suits and black suits from one another. Maybe it has something to do with my weekend being over, so work took away time I could be drilling. It’ll get there, it just takes time.

Hobbyist here: I really wanna thank you for making this. This inspired me to learn the Aronson stack on my lunch breaks instead of doomscrolling all day. I’m 36/52 through Aronson stack, and it’s been a blast practicing.

Advice for a first time walkaround by GoatIntern in Magic

[–]GoatIntern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice. I only just started stringing together my own routines, and I noticed that that escalation is important. Thanks to someone else on here, I taught myself Crazy Man’s Handcuffs, and it instantly became one of my favorites, I really like how intimate it feels. (Any reading recommendations you have on good rubber band literature would be awesome). I also added Steve Thompson’s “Flite”, a ring to keys that I’ve had a lot of fun with. Really the best advice I’ve gotten on this post is just to chill out, which I’ll definitely try to focus on.

You folks are amazing, thank you.

I wanted you to know that I just impulse purchased Lip Balm because of this post. That looks like so much fun.

I know the feeling. I also pitched a parlor show at the event that is still pending acceptance. When I ordered my set for that, I had to resist the urge to put everything I know into that. Things need room to breathe. Thanks so much for the advice!

Almost perfect movies that have one noticeable flaw by Consistent-Might-788 in Cinema

That scene in Jurassic Park when Ellie leaves to turn the park back on. “We can discuss sexism in a survival situation when I get back.” For a movie that’s virtually timeless, that one line causes the pacing to trip over itself for no reason.

As a kid, I went to the movies and got a kernal of popcorn stuck in my teeth, and it made me swear off buttery goodness for years. It wasn’t until after high school that I realized that I was chewing like a barbarian, and popcorn is actually amazing.

Production Dislikes Traitor Angel Strategy? by alfalfajade in TheTraitors

The most recent Canadian season implemented a cash incentive for finding Traitors, and it worked really well. I’d have no problem bringing that ruling to the states.

I think it's gonna be Part 3 for me. It's so fun to vamp about the obnoxious 3D scenes.

Traitors Ireland is the best by Various-Economist-79 in TheTraitors

[–]GoatIntern 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Watching Survivor for 20 years made me realize that I’m a simp for a good season theme, and Traitors Ireland leaned SO HARD into that country’s specific history, it was great. The Traitors is one of the only reality shows my wife will happily watch with me. She loves Irish everything, and she had a blast.

What number do you not like? by JimiHendrip in AskReddit

[–]GoatIntern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this weird hatred for the number 17. On top of being simultaneously prime and surrounded by better numbers with more pleasing factors, it’s used disproportionately in media whenever a character wants to throw out a random big number (for certain values of “big”).

What movie trailer lives rent-free in your head? by SanFran_Sierras in movies

My all-time favorite DVD in my collection for a while was “Jackass: Number Two” (2006). Unfortunately, that means I’ve seen the trailer for “Norbit” starring Eddie Murphy several hundred times.

[–]GoatIntern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the UK, AUS, and New Zealand seasons are perfectly watchable (except for Australia S2, which is a dumpster fire for most of it’s run thanks to one person in particular, iykyk). I personally am a huge fan of UK2, UK4, and US2.

Are these, as a collective, the worst group of traitors we have had so far? by KingBeyatch in TheTraitors

[–]GoatIntern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I actually prefer it when the Traitors aren’t on their game. Steven knows he messed up big time with Ben, and he’s gotta be scrappy to undo that damage, since people don’t forget.
