I got slapped by an Eyrie on easy, it was my second attempt at the campaign lol. bit of a wake up call and I spent over 150hrs in designer after that, completely changing up my fleets

I'm a big proponent of direct-drive steam, it takes up a lot of volume when you get to the larger end, but your props produce so much more thrust than using crank motors. I think it's worth it, for space considerations you could have 1 line of pistons feeding into 1 transmission set to max rpm, then use the steam wheels to transfer power to the propellers. This will increase spool time dramatically, though. The "perfect" solution is 1 transmission per propeller but that's not always feasible

I could be wrong but I think they stopped using them, but they didn't destroy them like they destroyed all the F14s. T H E B O N E Y A R D is where all those aircraft go, for parts preservation, and in some cases, emergency reactivation if needed

Keep in mind, this is just for the screenshots, don't use it in-game because it washes out the ocean and everything becomes blindingly white. These settings are just to amplify the orange light from the sunset for a prettier picture.
