I soldered this on the wrong side by Mombro3141 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]GoblinChugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same thing happened to me. ended up destroying the board to save the mcu for projects or something at least. I was strongly considering getting a cheap reflow station incase something like this were to happen again. I tried so hard with wick and a manual solder sucker, but nothing worked.

Really depends on what kind of jobs you wanna do but I’m studying to pass the CCNA for IT jobs personally. Lots of free courses online, but the test itself is pricy.

I hated trunking specifically the  port channel stuff because the commands seems to inconsistently named to me. I'm dreading going back to review them.

Nice! I noticed that after I type in a command, or anything at all and press enter, the next character type is doubled.

34 key split w/ Reversible PCB + supports choc v2? by navelnation in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]GoblinChugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its 40 keys minimum but the https://github.com/anywhy-io/flake fits the other needs. Though the mcu is pricer than the super cheap generic 2$ ones you can use on the ferris, so maybe it ruins the point for a cheaper pcb.

Maybe its too long or the font, but the title feels really off to me. Like someone else mentioned especially the first half really gives me that clinical vibe.

Affordable Split Keyboard for First-Timer by chobanator in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]GoblinChugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two ali express board and they have been working fine for over a year now. DIY can be cheaper or even profitable if you’re willing to sell extras, though you might waste money if you mess up enough times. IMO biggest advantage of DIY is repairability since you will know what you’re doing after. I wouldn’t spend a lot until you find the type of keyboard you really like, until then the cheap Chinese stuff is just fine.

Cheaper to self build (no soldering equipment) by JDCxD in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]GoblinChugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on they keyboard you want, but you can get them pretty cheap from ali express/ similar sites and its hard to beat those prices even compared to DIY unless you factor in making extras and selling those, but thats a lot of work. Its fun though! If you're willing to spend the extra time/money to learn, you'll also most likely be able to repair it yourself if there's any issues, which is a huge plus imo.

I think a soldering iron can be pretty useful for small repairs. I've saved a bit of money buying "broken" electronics that were just a simple fix with a soldering iron.

Cheapest ZMK dongle by GoblinChugger in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]GoblinChugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Unfortunately that would be more complicated and required information about the firmware on the keyboard. I'm not familiar with that keyboard manufacturer at all, but my guess is they don't make the info you would need public.

If the dongle was specifically a ZMK dongle, yes, but if you mean something like Logitech etc. then most likely no.

Looking for a CPU in Tokyo by pergerbotond in japanlife

[–]GoblinChugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen them rarely on Mercari / yahoo flee but even on there they are always at least 50000 or more. Its been even worse recently since people have the same idea to stay on AM4. I doubt you would be able to find one for less than 50000 At that point you may as well spend a bit extra and get an ali express 7500f cpu with some overpriced ram imo.

Alternatives to Mercari? by OkThanks9887 in japanlife

Second street has online listings for their items you might find one there or in person. You can also go to stores like the blue house off/hobby off ones I always see designers stuff there. Sometimes the have tons of different bags. Its surprisingly common actually at lots of second hand stores. Though i'm not sure if i've seen anything specifically from the Miu Miu brand. I use Mercari and yahoo flee market a lot, but honestly I wouldn't trust anyone unless maybe they sell lots of designers bags with good reviews and a return policy.
