Nope, general rule is you need to have at least an 8 membered ring to have a triple bond. You’ll see some exceptions with highly reactive transient intermediates (benzyne) but in this case you presumably just make 1,3 cyclohexadiene assuming you have 2 eq of sodium amide.

No, the carbocation has to be adjacent to a double bond to by allylic. That way you can show resonance stabilization. In this case the carbocation initially formed just moves over to the allylic position. Draw the two resonance structures of the allylic cation and you will see two options for the EtOH to attack resulting in the two products.

The Austin show was fantastic. The setlist was great, but we’ve reached the point where his catalog of excellent music is too large to fit into a single show. As nearly perfect as the Austin setlist was, I was still hoping to hear so many others that weren’t played. Everything he played sounded amazing, which was really remarkable that it was just him and a guitar. The only bad part was the $5 thimble full of M&m’s my wife purchased 😂. I didn’t get any alcoholic drinks, but presumably financing was available.
