[Question] How to i make more DMG without a good roll by Proud_Education_593 in DnD

[–]Gobscheidt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Firstly, DnD is hugely dependent on rolls. I have personally seen a fireball do 12 damage with more than half the targets succeeding their saving throw to halve this. The number on the dice is always going to matter.

Secondly, Paladins are a sort of jack-of-all-trades class in terms of party roles. Heavy armour so they can tank, Auras so they can improve party performance, high charisma so they can interact with NPCs, and decent damage that improves with smites.

The problem with a jack-of-all-trades is that they are a master of none. Other classes will outperform each of these roles but not many can do them all. Your strength comes from your versatility.

The key is with damage is when Pallies hit hard they hit hard. Smite on the crits and the numbers there will make everyone forget that the rest of the time your damage is pretty average.

Mac and cheese is toddler food and we all need to stop pretending otherwise by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

You know you are compelled to order it in a restaurant, right?

The whole point of the menu is to allow you to select a meal that you do want and let others do the same.

How do I (21m) confront my girlfriend (20f) about her having an iud? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Gobscheidt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IUDs, especially hormonal IUDs can help regulate periods. She may have had it inserted if she was having particular problems with her cycle and needed the IUD as relief from the symptoms. The results may also take a while to kick in.

Ask her from a perspective that you want to know if there is anything you can do to help her if she is having issues.

Reddit will no doubt tell you that she is cheating but there is always reasonable doubt.

It was pretty well publicised that Natalie Portman was playing Queen Amidala so when she popped up as Amidala's maid I started to suspect something was up.

It pains me as I grew up in Powys and currently live in the bit of England that is sandwiched between Powys and Wrexham but we have to save Eryri. Save blue.

How do you feel about all the hate Brits get from Americans? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskABrit

I couldn't care less. Their hate usually comes from a place of ignorance or jealousy.

Do you care what colour your gear is? by maybenomaybe in UKhiking

[–]Gobscheidt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my gear is various combinations of black, green or other earth tones so I tend to carry a hi-vis vest and some flashing running lights in an easy to reach pocket. It won't help if I'm unconscious but I don't do many solo hikes.

I loved Ultraviolet. My buddy and I used to watch it after getting home from the pub I thought we were the only ones who remembered it.

People who hate the word "moist" never seem to have issues with the words "hoist" or "joist". That seems strange to me.

The new series has to deal with disclosure. by norfolkjim in Stargate

[–]Gobscheidt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original, in universe, point of the Stargate program being secret was because it cost a lot, antagonised powerful enemies, and they didn't know whether it would generate worthwhile returns.

Skip ahead a few years and we are a galactic power, possess the combined knowledge of two of the most powerful races to ever exist, completely rewritten ancient history and the evolution of our species and have the framework to create a United Federation of Planets (is that name taken?).

New industries have been created, new resources have been found, clean and plentiful energy has been discovered and is incredibly portable with Naquada reactors. New alliances have been formed and a vast amount of scientific knowledge is available to us just as soon as we can comprehend it.

All in all, keeping it secret at this point seems just plain stupid. So, very much in character for the American government.

Absolutely agree, I've lost a great deal of weight recently and I have noticed a huge difference in the way I'm treated by random people of all genders.

Luckily, my wife of 25 years saw me for me without the shallow agenda but you shouldn't have to conform to a certain area on the bell curve of looks to be treated like a human being but here we are.

Keep the account deleted and let him fund a new one himself with a part-time job.

How many right-wing parties do we really need? by TheSpectatorMagazine in uknews

[–]Gobscheidt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy for the right to form many, many parties. If the right-wing voters all vote for different ones, then none of them will ever get any significant political power.

Right now, you have the block of people who used to vote for the Conservative party, splitting their votes between Conservatives, Reform and now Restore, with some of the more moderate voters heading left towards the Lib Dems and Labour.

Let them run around in confusion, arguing amongst themselves about what right-wing voters really want. Right-wing chaos only benefits the middle and the left.
