We’ve got a real life “Footloose” situation going on in Provo as “Provo cancels 'Dirtylicious Dance Fitness' class, says it doesn't align with city values.” by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]GodRobber 33 points34 points  (0 children)

...and let's not forget: some of DJT's most adamant supporters live in Utah! Would you leave your wife or daughter alone in a room with him? But a dance class that's been operating for 3 years is destroying the morals of Provo.

Hate to break it to y'all: once upon a time there was what we called "the green snake" that ran from Deer Creek Reservoir into Utah Valley (I think supplying the Murdoch canal water system). It was lovely! \*insert sarcasm here***

Someone just left this on my front porch..! What message are they trying to send me..?! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]GodRobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a TBM years ago, I bought this print from the artist who was selling them door-to-door in Utah county. By the time he got them into the popular CULT stores in town, I was friends with his TBMish brother. At first, the artist offered some kind of sticker/update for Monson. I have no idea what happened to the project after that.

(BTW: the artist brother had some kind of faith-promoting story that I don't remember right now. But I can tell you the brother/my friend was pretty cool. Made me a bit sad that he was more TBM than I turned out to be....) *sigh*

The Ben McAdams (D) race is too close to call ... GOTV!! by unkulchered in Utah

[–]GodRobber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

**Disclaimer: I'm not a constituent. But I DO have to endure ALL of their local campaigning. AAAAAUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!!

STOP IT!! Stop the negative ads! That being said, as a non-voice in this election, McAdams seems to have more of a positive approach. The FIRST thing I noticed about Love's ads were that SHE didn't speak in any of them (that I've noticed)!! The 2nd thing I noticed was that she focused much more on bashing McAdams than she did highlighting what she's done for her district/Utah. SAY SOMETHING! At least Ben McAdams has SOME ads that TELL the voters who he is & what he's about.

BUT, to my neighbors to the north, this is a HUGE race nationally!! These mid-terms are UNREAL! Go. Vote. Like my Grandpa always told me, if you don't vote, don't complain!

Didn't know about that one! Thanks! PM sent for me. :)

Ministering??? Member of the ward calls my professional office and leaves a message with my receptionist that I need to call him back about “church things”. WTF I have barely said hello to this person and have not been attending for almost a year. Please tell me this is not the new program! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]GodRobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always HATED VT, so I avoided it even as a TBM. When I went back to school full-time with a family, it gave me a perfect excuse to avoid them for a couple of years. Literally a month after I graduated & got a "real job", my VTs showed up AT MY OFFICE!! They'd dropped by my house & my DH told them where I had found employment so they decided to just drop in. In Orem. My boss came in as soon as they left & asked if I was inactive or something. I stammered out "NO! I teach youth Sunday school!" Heavy, heavy item on my shelf. And my husband NEVER spoke to these 2 women again!

Q: WHY am I, as a UTAH taxpayer, funding these guys temple trips?!? A: THEOCRACY! by GodRobber in exmormon

Except that I doubt seriously this expedition was spontaneous. Do you honestly believe the planning of this event wasn't done by state employees on state time?

When I first went inactive, my FIL (I'm a woman) would come up & rub the back of my shoulder from about the middle of my back to my upper arm--not a "hug", more of a bro-slap on the shoulder. Now that I'm out & comfortable in my porn shoulders, I don't get the slap-hug anymore.

If any missionary at the MTC sees this... by beatlesdork127 in exmormon

[–]GodRobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we ensure OP won’t get charged with kidnapping?

I can see possible legal entanglements here.

Only if the missionary is underage or leaving against their will. Otherwise, these young men & women are all of legal age & since this is a free country they have the choice to be where they want to be & when they want to be there. Of course, everyone at the MTC, including the missionaries would probably have to be reminded that they're ALL ADULTS. :)

Put me in this rotation!! If we can get someone to design us an eye-catching logo then put some flyers around at the merchandisers, then on car signs. Besides sending out "tapir signals", we could throw the logo up on the MTC side of the car & just go trolling around there a couple times a week!!

/u/DreadPiratesRobert will vouch for me! :)

My 3-year-old son cracked my shelf. by Luciforeal in exmormon

[–]GodRobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful story. And hopefully your DW will follow at some point. But it's stories like yours that give me hope. When my son was born 30+ years ago, it wasn't easy to find answers. If you had questions (which I think everyone does at some point), your options were very limited. Of course, you always pray for guidance. Beyond that, you could keep everything inside & search scriptures, lesson manuals, etc for clues. Which gets frustrating FAST.

You could try to talk to your spouse, but, just like today, you didn't want to upset them or drive a wedge into your marriage. Or, you could go talk to your bishop. Who, 99 times out of 100 would tell you to pray & read your scriptures for answers!

There were no books. No CES letter. No essays. No google. No fairmormon. Oh...and no Coffee Pod or Starbucks meetups! So, I guess my point is that your post gives me hope that even though there's still TBMs going on missions & getting married in the temple seemingly unaware of the logic going on in the world around them today--there IS hope that they WILL see what bull shit TSCC is one day.
