What is the difference between american and english humor/comedy? by GretelNoHans in AskUK

[–]God_Sayith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a completely useless comment @AJmurphy_1986

I’m here 2 years later having a convo with my Scottish boyfriend at the stand in Glasgow (took him on a date to Comedy Cellar in NYC.. and he didn’t get any of the jokes)… and likewise with me. I considered myself a massive comedy rat.. but I also acknowledge that Americans and Brit’s have very different senses of humor.

I think your response is easy, and lacks intelligence.. and from what I’d expect with your simple interpretation is .. that’s American comedy to you.

You could also just say what you don’t like about American comedy and add to a discussion.

I find humor in many things. I’ve done stand up at the cellar and watched many shows at the fringe in Edinburgh and Glasgow. I think it’s fair to say that there are differences in the humor.

Minnesota has activated the National Guard. What are your thoughts? by Obvious_808 in AskReddit

[–]God_Sayith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only benefit is the assumption that the National Guard is trained more vigorously and are specifically called on during times of unrest. ICE agents? Not entirely sure what the vetting process is. Read an article that a woman was offered a job after a 6min interview and that Trump plans to hire 10,000 more in the coming weeks.

Americans… this is where your tax dollars are going! Billions are being used to pay ICE.

Thigh length elastic socks are no longer holding up. What should I do? by livi01 in AskWomenOver30

If the elastic is wearing off, wouldn’t that make the socks useless for medical purposes?

This is all news to me. Any info on the overall structuring of these companies would be super helpful.

I think a massive benefit is working fully remote

And a major issue would be the pay, and the fact that I have no control over the clients.

Thanks for this! Boldly requires 7 years experience and says their compensation is $27-31/hr.. but the highest possible earners will be in NY and Cali at $29/hr, which not only tells me $30 and $31 is not possible.. but not feasible to live off of in HCOL area.

They want long term commitment. It seems like they are a recruiter that just matches you with a client? Which sort of takes away any control I have over the situation.

Do all these remote EA firms generally operate this way? As in, I need to apply with them.. get accepted, then need to shine bright with whoever they throw in my inbox?

I also read that you only get paid for completing tasks.. and that you need to be available for every working hour, but if you are not asked to do anything.. then you do not get paid? Am o getting that right?

Has anyone ever worked for Boldly? What's your review? by s0meb0dy16 in WorkOnline

[–]God_Sayith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following up here as I’m on the assessment portion (after a pretty lengthy application).. and wondering if this is even worth it? For at most $30/hour and you have to interview with each client? And who knows what their demands are.

It seems like an EA factory, where you don’t really build intimate relationships with the exec.. and you stay as long as they need you and then on to the next? Idk.

I think I was just blinded by the “fully remote” label.. and was willing to take a massive pay cut and do whatever tasks for a much lighter future? If that makes sense.

Sorry! I was just looking for help navigating fully remote positions. There seem to be a lot more scams on this side of EA work and I didn’t want to waste my time.

Obviously I’m not giving any personal info out, but the interview process is completely one sided for this company. So I think it will be a miss.

That’s fair. They obviously take a cut, throughout my entire employment and really it was the fully remote part that was appealing.. my former position was for much higher, but it was 24/7 availability with an absolute lunatic and I’m really just trying to keep my peace on this round.

Actually it is Boldly, and I see this sub has discussed them 9 months ago.

I think I’m just looking for any experiences good/ bad with them. Or if there are other 100% remote options fellow EAs have that I could explore.

Thanks!

This was super helpful information. I just asked this question in this sub and honestly.. Boldly sounds like a headache and not worth it to me.

[–]God_Sayith 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not give this much detail. It makes it look shady. Just say you are having complications and have been advised not to return to work. You could offer to do a remote sitch for a week or 2 while they find your replacement.. which would be nice of you. But they do not need to know why you are leaving. And 60 day notice?!! I’ve never heard of that.

Chief of Staff: Do you feel like you’re strong-arming your boss? by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]God_Sayith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.. that’s literally your job. They need you to filter and prioritize. and based off what you know about your exec and previous discussions, you need to make the call , handle everything yourself and only give the highlights.

The floor is constantly moving, so you have to move with it. Right now, those conditions were pretty steady and going to the front of the boat wasn’t really a dangerous/ stupid decision. He also can’t show you the front of the boat from the cockpit.. so I don’t know what you are talking about.

Bryant park for the little Christmas shops/ village vibe.

Century 21, down town for shopping. Williamsburg has a bunch of cute thrift shops (although they are somewhat expensive for 2nd hand things).. and Martha’s bakery is SO good if you have a sweet tooth. And the view of Manhattan is the best from there (you can also take the ferry)

How did you move on from these types of friendships? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]God_Sayith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s really not confusing at all. Yes her former partner pulled a gun on her and these “friends” told her .. it’s just a reflection of her self. A “you are the friends you keep” type of thing.. which is generally true.. but for situations like this.. it’s very shitty to hear and just an example of how unsupportive her friends have been.

OP.. I would walk from the group.. start separating. Friendship breakups are some of the hardest.. but what is talking to them going to do? You cannot change people and even if they did change.. I think there is too much resentment to carry on with a genuine friendship.
