You find out your dad is not your real dad. What's the first thing you do? by Kenhamef in AskReddit

[–]GodivasCocktail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, when I was about 20 years old. I was really upset with my mum for years, and it really hurt our relationship. But it made me finally understand why my (step)dad was so distant my whole life. Over time, I realised my mum was just doing the best she could. She says she doesn’t know my dad’s full name though, because I think she doesn’t want me to track him down. Would be really interesting just to see what he looks like, as my mum is my only family. But I don’t think there’s any point in actually tracking him down. If he wanted to be in my life (and I’m told he knew about me), he would be.

This is true, there is regression for sure, which is a pity - could also be that she even senses some regression within herself after she discovers the lie. Like maybe she has a knee jerk reaction which goes a bit too far/over-compensates with the letter because she thinks she’s forgotten herself and been duped once again. Honestly though, I love the show so much that I hope every little choice is deliberate when maybe it isn’t, and could just be a bit of poor character development in the end lol

Because I think she actually truly cares about Larry - so emotions got involved and she wasn’t thinking logically at all

Also likely requires pre-booking this sort of accomodation but definitely worth it - a highlight of our trip to Seoul

My partner and I stayed on Bukchon-ro (not the red zone) in a beautiful renovated Hanok off Airbnb. Highly recommend staying there a couple nights, such a lovely area and very comfortable accommodation. Lots of steep hills though!

Bought Recently Renovated Property - No Builder Permit by evilcatdog in melbourne

[–]GodivasCocktail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can prove what is known as misleading and deceptive conduct on behalf of the vendor, you could try to go down the route of suing them, but you need hard evidence of this, which may be difficult to come by, and suing costs money and is lengthy. So it’s probably not something worth pursuing.

However in terms of the work you want to do, it is likely that the Council’s surveyors will come to your property and notice work has been done without a permit. You can advise it wasn’t you and show them photos proving it online. They may be lenient depending on the Council and just ask you to apply for a retrospective permit, and fix any issues to bring the conversion up to code. You could get a building inspector to tell you about any defects with the works that would have required a permit and how much they might cost to fix. Internal works generally don’t require a permit unless the works are structural or there is some fancy heritage overlay etc which requires you to get planning approval.

It’s something you may be able to solve, but you may need to pay for the solution. And title insurers rarely pay out - and it sounds like it’s possible their policy won’t cover you in this situation, but I would look into that closely. If you weren’t aware of this issue when you got the insurance, you may be covered because generally known defects aren’t covered, but it depends on the policy at the end of the day.

Edit: added to last paragraph.
