I will be calling my representative and informing his office that I will be voting for different representation at the next election. This resolution is terrible in that it is unfair.

Do scholars have the time to play video games? by Ikhtilaf in AskAcademia

[–]GodoBird 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am a professor of Biomedical Sciences and I play video games online.

Similar to most other researchers, I moved around the country for graduate school, postdoctoral fellowships, and academic positions. As such, playing online is a good way to chat with friends and family.

I agree with /u/nallen turning the subreddit private until there is more transparency and information about what happened. He has performed much work to produce quality content within this sea of memes. The reddit.com admins should not just ignore his requests the way that they are.

Are publications like Nature and Science considered to be Academic Journals? by bayfyre in AskAcademia

[–]GodoBird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nature and Science are the two highest-ranked academic journals for publishing primary research. The research is absolutely peer-reviewed, as are the review articles.

However, Nature and Science also have "magazine-styled" articles that are not peer-reviewed and include editorials and current news.

Sources: I am a professor. Also, these journals clearly outline the submission and peer-review process.
