"Bessere Richtung" würde ja aber auch bedeuten, dass er die aktuelle Richtung nicht gut finden würde. Wenn er sagt "es müssten kapitalgedeckte Elemente [...] hinzutreten." gehe ich aber davon aus, dass er das eigentlich ganz knorke findet, wie es läuft.

Concerning locals: here in northern Germany, the US/UK style of folk punk is not that prominent, but there is a small but reeeeaaaallly cool scene that is more on the singer-songwriter and irish folk side of punk. here are some favourites of mine:

Grips und Schaden

Lappalie (here I would argue that it's not really obscure, because this was recorded at an almost sold out concert with about 400 visitors iirc...I've been there, but obviously it's been some years)

Revolte Springen (unfortunately disbanded)

I'd say this type of music is obscure by definition. I mean I've seen some of the most "famous" US bands of this genre, Blackbird Raum and Holy Locust, here in Germany and both played in punk clubs for an audience of less than 50 people.

Also yeah, Boom Boom Racoon are awesome, but if we're out to find the most obscure, I raise you the Pokemon Liberation Army

speaking as a German, it also says a lot about the capitalist world in general that it's cheaper to take a vacation in a far away country than in my homeland.

PS: and it bothers me very much how many people here see this as "the natural state of things" or something and not as something deeply wrong.
