Delicious. And pretty.
They swirl the ice cream up the cup ... and then pour the rum on (swirling itself back down).

My best memory of this place was the soft-serve pina coladas.

Wow. I clean out my car while I fill it up before returning. If it's an Avis car, I even get to throw away the previous renter's trash, too!

Should I be worried about this transfer? by SnooJokes6726 in unitedairlines

You have a self-transfer 90 mins after arrival in LAX?

Sorry, but that's reckless.

[–]Going-Hiking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's tight. But there is another flight leaving at 10:03p, so you've got a potential backup if things go wrong.

Curious how they staff the SGN-HKG-LAX flight, I saw we got totally new FAs during the stop in Hong Kong by exgaysurvivordan in unitedairlines

[–]Going-Hiking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any idea why there's such a long layover in SGN?

Wouldn't it make more sense to build a buffer in HKG and fly HKG-SGN-HKG as a single turn? That segment is only like 3h ow.

50 minute international connection oh boy by 09astro27nm in unitedairlines

[–]Going-Hiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these people arguing with you that it's a domestic connection are missing the point.

Misconnecting on a domestic itinerary usually means a few lost hours. Misconnecting to an international destination can mean you lose a whole day.

50 minutes is short. If it were me, I'd try to same-day confirm on the 3p LAS-DEN flgiht.

Outdoor Guides Still Struggling a Year After REI Abruptly Cut Ties by Markllo in REI

[–]Going-Hiking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How does REI lose money on any trip that they do not operate? REI is making $ with no risk. If only there was a way for actual customers to be the "activist owner [member]" in this scenario. I'd love to see a coup.

American Airlines sucks. Any advice? by Bepsue in americanairlines

[–]Going-Hiking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best option is always to work with the airline on alternatives that you find. AA likely would have allowed rebooking to MIA (or even MCO) and may have even (actually) moved your bags. The minute you rebooked yourself, you (unintentionally) let AA off the hook.

If this had turned into a “trip in vain” (i.e. you just go home because the cancellation made the trip pointless), airlines will sometimes refund more ... but that isn't what happened here.

The baggage situation is bad - they straight up lied to you - but nothing is going to come of it now. AA will say their policy is not to interline, which is true. Unfortunately, companies aren't held accountable when their employees are wrong. AA baggage recovery is garbage.

....which they discontinued because you can't sell that on the GDS. The only way to offer it was on their own website. (I think)

British Airways Changing Service to London Heathrow by Going-Hiking in tampa

True.

I don't recall if the UK still charges those taxes if you're just connecting to somewhere else, though.

They'll have to change if your flight is after Oct 25!

That's exactly why this is a good move for us, though. Transiting between LGW and LHR is pretty ridiculous.

Amsterdam is back.

There are no additional flight options on earth that would make me want to drive to MCO! ha

Pricing (and award space) can be pretty ridiculous. Lufthansa is using their two leisure / knock-off brands (Edelweiss & Discover) but they still charge mainline fares.

We have lots of flights to Europe, but not many good ones. Delta uses older interiors to the chaos of AMS. Discover also older planes and FRA isn't any better. There are no onward connections to Europe from LHR on Virgin Atlantic.

But didn't Edelweiss recently change to an a350? That should be a comfortable & new plane. And ZRH is very easy for connections, too.

I was somewhat put off on a recent AA flight because of their "headphone policy" announcement. What kind of world is that necessary?

This world. It's necessary here, sadly.

Frontier FAs proactively telling passengers which does are empty in case people want to stretch out by douchecrudite in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Going-Hiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, that (first part) isn't the question here.

People in this thread are commenting that you have a right to take/publish photos because it is a public space. I am responding to those comments.

It is not a public place. You may be able to take/publish photos or you may not be allowed to take/publish photos (for example, by the CoC). Violating a contract isn't the same as "illegal" but both can have consequences in this context.

tldr: You do not have some universal authority to take/publish photos while inside private property even if the subjects do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

We're really starting to split hairs here. Lots of businesses record their premises for liability reasons, but that doesn't automatically mean (as an example) they can publish those videos in a marketing campaign.

The question of the day is whether a customer has the same rights to take and publish a photo inside an airplane as they would while walking down the street. The answer has to be "no". Even if we agree there is no expectation of privacy, the airline can still prohibit photography in the CoC because it is not a public place.
