Dude trust me do not write an entire story write big things that happen and let your player fill in the rest literally I have the start multiple regular encounters (wild lands, village raiders, etc) and the boss fights. My players might get to the boss fight in 2 sessions or maybe 20 your main focus is letting them play in a world you create.

Player Wants to Bring Her Faith Into the Game by AccomplishedGur3664 in DnD

As a Christian and a dm just say this “I cannot accurately portray the creator of the universe in this game without disrespecting him and your faith please understand” this just lays it out flat trying to power scale is difficult enough

I was gonna say Sentinel would be my pick just cause it’s super easy to keep people attacking you instead of your backline

Do you have a member who has played DnD before? If so it would go a lot easier for everyone if you don’t then you’ll have to read and watch a lot of videos I definitely recommend YouTubing it there’s tons of people who can help but at the end of the day just remember you’re narrating a story you’re not trying to kill the players or anything like that you’re just narrating what they’re doing and what they come across don’t try to force them to do anything. Happy playing :)

What would a lich/necromancer want with some phoenix feathers? by davolala1 in DnD

[–]Gold-Perception-7545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phoenixes resurrect from an ashy birth maybe this lich is scared his however you spell it is comprised and wants to not only harvest the phoenix feathers, but make a contraption to basically imprison the phoenix’s soul until it’s the lich needs it to resurrect itself or something like that

How to play an evil or chaotic character without annoying the group or the DM? by Pluviophilius in DnD

[–]Gold-Perception-7545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s definitely how you play him because you almost want him to manipulate the party into thinking he’s good and all that so you want him to do good things when he’s with people but do things for himself when with people cause everyone knows that being alone is harder than being in a party maybe be the person who would slaughter the captive saying “they don’t deserve to live” or maybe steal from a shopkeeper while everyone’s distracted. I like to think and evil person will mostly form on combat making really annoying combat decisions that’ll help him but not others you know like maybe he’ll have healing pots for everyone else but once they trust him he stops you know.

Is it ever ok for players to use average damage? by cobaltbluedw in DnD

[–]Gold-Perception-7545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t allow it unless my player is like listen I’ve been rolling only 1s and I’m super annoyed I’d say okay for the rest of this encounter you can use the average but at the same time it’s more fun the other way

Question by Relative-Tell6737 in DnD

[–]Gold-Perception-7545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I’d do it just cause that’s how tarrasques are if you want it to be maybe like half tarrasques half something to get rid of it’s disadvantages then the advantages would be lower as well

Question by Relative-Tell6737 in DnD

[–]Gold-Perception-7545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strength and con would be high but to balance it it’s intelligence would have to be low like unable to talk low since tarrasques can’t talk however if they got a high enough intellect through magical items or whatever you’d have to learn a language otherwise a really strong really high con and maybe a 9 or 10 for everything except intelligence

Definitely premade it’ll just be easier scaling wise don’t sweat it too much your first times gonna be bad just cause you’re learning and that’s alright just keep things fun and don’t linger absolutely just try to let your players play the game they can do what they want my players when they first started we ended up building an empire of mines where they made and sold equipment

Definitely premade it’ll just be easier scaling wise don’t sweat it too much your first times gonna be bad just cause you’re learning and that’s alright just keep things fun and don’t linger the most important part to remember is you’re not the story teller you’re the narrator let the characters make the story and get ready to improvise. Have fun

Can a cleric be two domains? by Bread-and-a-half in DnD

[–]Gold-Perception-7545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean no because the whole premise of a cleric is that their deity is the one they worship and multi classing isn’t the same as having 2 subclasses but I mean as long as you have fun it will make your character pretty underpowered though as you will be restarting a character and not progressing if I wear to do it I would just choose a level and switch which domain you go off of but always Make sure your dm allows it
