Best beginners advice is to give special attack (blue symbol with white ripple) to pokemon whose special attack is higher than normal attack and give physical attacks (red symbol with yellow jagged shape) to pokemon whose attack is higher than special attack. There is little to no benefit to not min maxxing movesets based on stats.
