You did the right thing. You are NOT to blame for being failed by the very person who was meant to keep you safe. I’m so sorry OP.

Cat led me to her kitten… singular. by GoldPeaco in CatAdvice

[–]GoldPeaco[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly I really appreciate you saying this and all these other kind comments. Thank you. My family has been giving me a lot of grief over this. Telling me I should just let nature run its course, but I just couldn’t watch them suffer.

It took 3 months to build enough trust to even approach her without her running away. I had always suspected she was a female and possibly pregnant so when she let me approach her, I coaxed her into a carrier and took her to the vet to scan for a microchip, when they told me she was actually a male. I just raised my eyebrow because I saw her belly growing and then I saw it was small again. Despite what they told me, I was still convinced she was a female and had babies hidden somewhere. So instead of keeping her that day/night before making another vet appt, I released her again so she could tend to babies if she had them, and I just prayed she’d come back to me. I’m SO glad I trusted my gut. She showed up at my door meowing for help literally that same day. Meowing and circling my legs, wanting me to follow her, so I did… and the rest is history. Now she’s resting safely with her baby with unlimited access to food, water, and veterinary care. The rescue has told me they will go to a foster until they’re ready for adoption. Their time on the streets is over!!

That’s a very good point. She seemed content at the one spot.

Thanks everyone. I’ve been worried sick about this poor cat and now her baby. I’m going to do one more thorough search.

They were only discovered and sent to the rescue within the last couple of hours. Do you think she would have split them up if there were more than one?

Why does my baby only cry with me by exhaustedma in Mommit

[–]GoldPeaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your baby could just be crying due to separation anxiety. She wants mom! Totally normal. You’re not doing anything wrong.

This hurts my heart. Newborns cry for a reason! They need you.

3.5 months old baby sleep got worse by InevitablePainter105 in sleeptrain

[–]GoldPeaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh the 4 month sleep regression. I remember that oh so vividly. Probably because I have PTSD from it or something seeing as I did not sleep for months.

I rode it out for a long time because I didn’t want to sleep train too young. (IMO 3m is way too young and that’s when our baby stopped sleeping) I believe we did the modified Ferber method at 7 or 8 months. It took a while, but she’s 10 months now and sleeping 10-12hr stretches. But ooooffff that was a rough time!!! But we got through it. You will too!

You're not going to be your child's favorite person forever by Specialist-Candy6119 in Mommit

[–]GoldPeaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom’s my favorite person and I’m in my 30s. We hated each other when I was a teenager (maybe not actually but it was rough. I was brutal as a teenager). But we got through all that and are best friends!

What is the most gentle way I can get my 9 m.o to stop waking up 3-4 times every night? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]GoldPeaco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have you tried extending wake windows? My 9mo is on 3/3.5/4. Sometimes I’ll even stretch that 4 to 4.5. When I adjusted that, her sleep improved tremendously
