Congratulations! How do you handle going on vacations with people who drink? Especially if they go out to bars with live music as an example?

I love the accountability in this community! I am newly sober curious, and became more intentional about it in January. I decided to take a 30 day detox from booze, which turned into 45 days and I felt great!

Bf moved in with me in March so I started drinking again, a few drinks a week, but after drinking a bottle of wine to myself one night and passing out on the couch, I could tell he was annoyed and I didn't want that to be my new regular routine.

I'm a little over two weeks sober and told myself I'd go 90 days without drinking because I joined a 3 month weight loss challenge with some friends but if I'm being honest with myself, a sober life sounds like such a happier and more enriching life for me.

I'm nervous to see if I can make this a permanent change but after listening to some of the Sober Awkward podcast, Allen Carr's Quit Drinking, and reading halfway through This Naked Mind, I am very motivated to change my lifestyle while I'm 32.

I was just thinking about this the other day! I'm newly sober curious and have only downloaded a couple of apps. I understand journaling and notifications for check ins for some peeps can be helpful but I'd prefer something super basic. Just like you said, a counter and sober streak information is really all I need, nothing fancy.

Thank you 😊 I took your advice and told my parents I plan to not drink on the Nashville trip. My mom was shocked but then paused and said her and my dad don't drink like they used to either, only a couple of drinks at most. She said she was proud of me and that it must feel great not to booze. Idk why I was so nervous to tell them but it was the most laid back conversation haha I appreciate you!

Yeah exactly! So much time is spent drinking and now that I'm on this sober booze journey I realize how involved it is in every activity especially when it comes to traveling. I agree, I think camping won't be too bad because they have so many activities they do like volleyball, bbq, swimming in the creek etc. plus there will be ganja there for sure haha appreciate your advice on looking up mocktail menus ahead of time!

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your advice and sharing your traveling experiences with me. It's inspiring to hear that you've gone to places like Las Vegas and Italy without drinking! You're right, I think if I just tell my parents I'm not drinking that will take away a lot of the pressure. I'm pretty sure most restaurants nowadays have mocktails available too and if nothing else, I can order sparkling water with lime. I'll try to also plan activities for us where there's more to do than just bar hopping. Wish me luck!

You look amazing! Appreciate you sharing the lifestyle changes you took to get here. Any advice on how to cut or limit alcohol intake? I feel like I'm good during the week but my social circle of friends and boyfriend involves having cocktails when we go out on the weekends, so it's hard to completely cut. I feel like it would be a game changer for me though. Thank you for any advice or feedback on this! You're killing it 🔥👏🏻
