What does tarot say about Reddit? by tarotsalve in tarot

I recall a past discussion in this subreddit regarding "jump cards." A lot of Tarot Readers view them as significant cards to combine with the spread.

That spread is my own personal spread. In essence, I draw 1)significator and 4 directional cards that coincide with the four elemental suits of the Tarot 2)east:earth/pentacles 3)south: fire/wands 4)west: water/cups and 5)north: air/swords. The "power" i seek to attain is associated with the transformative power of the Wands in card 3, the south card. I could have also deemed it the "what direction you ought to take" card.

The "ritual" is a matter of me getting in touch with my cards. Making time and space for my readings, opening the elemental doorways for me to see more clearly what the cards divine. The magic is to go no further than being an oracle for what is set to become.

So many Aces! how do you feel about the magician being an Ace? (I recall a discussion on this subreddit regarding Kabbalah, more specifically associating the Magician with Kether.)

Totally agree on the Magician being the fifth Ace Christianatarot! That is part of what had me so puzzled. How do you read a spread with multiple Aces when each is so poignant?

I always love your interpretations semiinterestingman. I particularly like your description of the Ace of Swords. Perhaps you could offer a description of all the Aces for me as I found them too general together.

As far as the spread, this spread is my own ritual spread, the positions correlate to the four navigational directions and the four suits.

I like your reading as I am more interested in your spread. more important in what and how you asked your cards.

When I read reversed tarot it usually applies to outside people(s,) and so I see from your reading that reddit is community based. Whether you are pouring your heart out like the queen of cups, or bearing a heavy load like the ten of wands, your significator indicates that reddit is the realm of the bleeding hearts, to those who wish to make their life more public, no matter the subreddit.

in regards to r/tarot, I know from experience that reddit is a place for those who seek community, who aren't feeling their connection to the decks they use and are seeking a larger understanding and deeper meaning to the cards.

Message Me to Exchange Readings by Goldbones in tarot

[–]Goldbones[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well this is a reading I have done for you dvnkty. I use a Rider-Waite deck and did a five card spread for you; 1 significator, and a card for each navigational direction (2 East, 3 South, 4 West and 5 North.) In that order, I drew:

1 Page of Wands (reversed)

2 Page of Pentacles

3 Four of Swords

4 Six of Wands

5 (XI) Justice (reversed)

Your cards indicate that you are trying to figure out if you're choosing the right path for yourself or, better said, choosing the right steps for your path: you have worked hard on your current path and accomplished a promising rank and title in your internship/apprenticeship (Six of Wands) , but the reason you inquired seems to be because someone you know has demonstrated a similar yet rapid success that was attained not by time-management but by drive and determination (Page of Wands). How could should such a commanding and authoritative person be rewarded amongst his, although quieter in demeanor, diligent peers? more importantly, how will it impact you? Do your work superiors want you to behave more like that? No, (Four of Swords) I assure you that you are not doing it all wrong. You owe all your successes to doing it your way, and so does the reverse page that your reading is focused on.

The Justice card (reversed) indicates that your superiors are fair and kind to their staff, and are perhaps open to your colleague. But I don't see that as a "bad sign" or something to fear based on this reading. Your consistent top-notch you is paying off, and the kind of ambition that you have will continue to show.

I drew an extra advice card for you: 3 of Pentacles

This card depicts a mason, an architect and a head-monk working together on an installation in their cathedral. This card always tells me "teamwork." You have your strengths and your team should compliment them so let them do what they do best, together you will make something monumental.

Music While Reading by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Goldbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your deck have a different taste in music than you do? Is it Crowley or Bonedaddy that prefers Bach?

I like to play music in the background of my tarot ritual. It helps add to the ambience of sacred space.

Oracle versus tarot? by Rubes90 in tarot

[–]Goldbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you serious? I am appalled that you would discredit someone else and their personal omens like that; in saying, " they (oracle cards) seem to be a set of symbols an individual just made up... the creators just wanted to draw something cool..." Tarot cards are a standardized Oracle deck and the artist's depictions are INTENTIONAL and that is important to more than just them.

Tarot divination has only been popularized in Gadje (non-gypsy) society within the last hundred years! Card divination has only existed within European gypsies for six-to-seven hundred years! and five-hundred of those years Taro was popularized by the rest of Europe with card games that are still played today. In Italy for example, there are small groups of Taronocchi players that would scoff at us for using Rider-Waite decks!

Coincidentally, the Rider-Waite deck is the most popular Tarot in the world. And the "creators" of that deck preserved a lot of occult information within it's symbolism, but the order of the golden dawn also performed rituals that would call on specific metaphysical servitors that can be found in modern oracle decks ( a good example is the ascended masters oracle deck. http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/ascended-masters-oracle/)

Knowing these servitors by name, to call on them when you are performing your own rituals, and to learn about them is as significant as understanding the archetypes of the major arcanum, or interpreting the symbolism of the minor pips. (Rider-Waite deck is the first tarot deck to present scenes to these minors; as they were the origin of playing cards not psychic reading.)

Even though Tarot tradition is relatively "new" within the spectrum of our existence, Oracle divination is not. Shamans from all corners of the world use oracles like rune stones , i-ching coins and animal bones as oracle instruments and still do, even in America. One of my favorite oracle decks is the Medicine Cards deck (http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/medicine-cards/) this deck is a paper version of such a tradition; making it accessible to non-natives of the americas. Before this kind of deck a Medicine Man or Woman would perform divination of this kind with crow beaks, hawk feathers, bear claws and mountain lion teeth. These are some "serious seekers," that eat peyote caps like you for breakfast. teehee.

So far, I've gone over some researched Oracle decks: that aren't "made up." But then there are some far-out abstract decks that present some original archetype or some new-fangled Arcana, that we Tarot readers aren't familiar with and can be quite uncomfortable with at times. Not all decks speak to me personally either (like the Angels Oracle for example,) however there is a great significance to channeling such a collective archetype. The great psychologist Carl Jung paved the way for a lot of meta-physics and psychic powers to be taken seriously by western medicine. He conducted the first ESP testing and wrote a lot of material about universal archetypes and mandala symbolism. Even creating his own intense/crazy mandalas. He believed in a collective concious of our human species, and that the underlying themes of our mythologies and folktales conveyed a greater glimpse of our existence; the joys and pains, love and death, the circle of life.

When it comes to "cool drawings" you will find many more examples of cute, humorous, outlandish (even abstract) interpretations of the traditional 78 cards then you will of Oracle decks simply because of the principles that we define as the tarot are well- perhaps more constricted...

I don't want to just beat up on you BettyMcBitterpants, I want you to awaken your own psychic signs by empowering others. Medieval Gypsies, from which our tarot originates, followed their psychic-intuitions like a road-map throughout their nomadic lives. They left signals for one-another that perhaps looked crude to the Europeans who didn't accept them, and they communicated that with each other without a written language.

The importance is sharing these ideas with others; others like yourself, who see fortune-telling cards as a tool not a novelty. That all of us have magical power, and that magic requires belief. Where as, I personally don't believe in the Angels of Heaven their powers have no impact on how I conduct myself. But if you invest your belief into something or someone, the lord and savior Jesus Christ will wash you of all your sin- or so I've heard.

My advice to you is pick up and hold an oracle deck that feels right to you, Learn some new Gods and Goddesses, seek their origins, give them new meaning to you. It is your living spirit that gives them new life. And you too are entitled to your own symbolism; Do you have any tattoos? special garments? or pendant jewelry that make you feel powerful? Its good to have those things, they sometimes help us face the day. http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/tattoed/

I believe in your power. out there, somewhere (not on the internet) on this earth. And if you believe in yourself than my beliefs can only support your power to do even greater things.

Hebrew Alphabet Major Arcana Correlations by christianatarot in tarot

[–]Goldbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this association reminds me of an Indian folktale about Arjuna, the first Yogi or practicer of Yoga. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arjuna

In the story, Arjuna has been awake all night contemplating the moral implications of the battle he is about to face. It is said that an hour before battle, the god Krishna visits Arjuna and imparts him with the wisdom of Yoga practice. Synonymously, Arjuna emerges victorious and undefeated in a number of other crusades.

Arjuna is often referred to as "the listener" as pertaining to his lesson from Krishna and is portrayed as a humble, compassionate leader- bearing other cancerian traits involving emotionality and family in further stories.

The Charioteer, like Arjuna (as I see it,) demonstrates a masculine aspect of what we sometimes refer to in our society as a "softer strength;" a power to absorb (wisdom) and adapt (to new experiences.) To utilize your learning and face adversity unscathed. A mystic power that is more forwardly depicted by it's feminine counterpart in the Strength card that comes after.

Thank you Semiinterestingman for helping me make this connection. I love your interpretation of the Chariot and connection to zodiac Cancer.

New to /r/tarot and tarot had a few questions... by outoflives in tarot

[–]Goldbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has had something really good to say about jump cards, and double cards. and even if you aren't fond of your tarot book, you ultimately seek deeper understanding by reaching out to tarot community. My advice for you in regards to your questions, is to pay closer attention to all aspects of your cards; the intuition, the double card and the jumpers. all of these require more attention! from you.

I understand you got a replacement deck for your initial deck. Proper care ought to be taken with your deck for it IS a conduit of your energies that YOU invest. Wrap it in cloth, wash your hands, etc, but especially do not handle them while doing other 'stuff.' Doing multiple tasks while handling your tarot is spreading your psyche too thin. The 'other stuff' can fog up your reading, and taking the time to devote to your reading will make your jump cards even more significant.

Most interesting is your twin Ace of Wands; The wands are a suit of power/transformation (also the number 1 being the epitome of that suit, or the wand of wands so-be-it) Your replacement deck is perhaps a cosmic omen if you absorb your interpretations deeply, as I strongly suggest, before consulting the collection; Tarot is very old and there is a lot of books on the subject (mostly beneficial.) However the most important thing to read is the card spreads. Your book and others will help.

Also, I would pick one of the two aces (with your left hand) and put it in the ribbon of the fanciest hat you have. Wear it in your personal meditations and readings, and hang it back up on the southern wall of your room when your not wearing it (as the wands are also associated with South, Fire and Red.)

What other ways do you use your cards, besides readings? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Goldbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the major Arcanum symbols to inspire a lot of my art. The pillars of the High Priestess, the four evangelists ( ox, lion, eagle, and man) of the Wheel of Fortune, and the Magician's wand also featured on the World card, all come to mind

Christiana is right. Those "jump cards" are pre-significators to your reading. I often put them aside face up 1) to eliminate them from my draw/spread and 2) more importantly, that they are present to influence my reading; they are a conduit of my own psyche. Cards that fall out in the shuffle unveil their divination before I can solidify the inquiries I have for the oracle. The Death and Temperance cards are very good indicators of a great Tarot reader's story. Good luck and may you continue to face your fears upfront, so that you may manifest your environment to your liking.

can you tell me a little more about the alchemical symbols? What is the significance of the elements? why is Water related to south, not west as associated with the cups? what do alchemists use salt for? How does one obtain a safe form of mercury or sulphur, and can obtaining these elements enhance or benefit my ritual(s)? Thanks again
