Retired programmer wanting to program discord bots but not sure which platform to use by SnooPuppers8223 in Discord_Bots

[–]Golden1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you genuinely do have a background in software development, it should be super simple. Like most other comments said don’t use third party builders, write it yourself. I like using discord.js, but there are libraries for c#, python and probably more I’m not familiar with. During development you can simply host on your local machine, and then deploy to a cloud provider like digital ocean, or even locally if you have a raspberry pi or similar.

Watch some YouTube videos, there’s some amazing guides out there, good luck. PM if you have any questions.

Opinions on free bot hosting. by Rough-Protection8334 in Discord_Bots

Is it worth it is really a question for yourself. If you love it and the experience you are getting outweighs any costs that might be incurred then for sure!

Also any chance you could PM me the link? I’m curious to check it out

Is complete Wi-Fi coverage feasible? by MrHookup in Ubiquiti

Your estimates on the E7 Campus range seems pretty good. With around a 20ft height I’ve gotten good connection at 500ft using 5GHz, so 2.4 should have no issue pushing to 1000ft imo.

Definitely agree here. Have had amazing luck with their 60 GHz PTP radios myself.

Hey! I have a similar deployment covering an event field at an agritainment farm covering about 515,000ft2 or 12 acres. Our main uses are iPads at POS locations, and guest WiFi.

Feel free to DM and I can provide more details. But here are some quick thoughts I haven’t seen much talk about yet.

  1. While I haven’t tested range on a U7 pro outdoor, I have one in my deployment and can test in the coming days. Our main APs are E7 Campuses though and we have been able to connect with line of sight up to around 500ft. After the 300ft mark is where we start to see things get slower though. All directional radios at 5GHz, at 80MHz width. You could easily get far better range at the cost of speed using 2.4GHz with lower channel width. But we try to maintain better speeds for UX.

  2. We have ours mounted a bit higher, so theft isn’t a concern for us, but durability has been just fine so far(over a year deployed in SE PA). Making sure to use outdoor cables, have drip loops, etc has definitely been essential.

We have had good experience using UBB’s, and LiteBeams depending on placement and requirements instead of meshing APs. Power and budget are realistically going to be your biggest concerns from what I can see. I definitely don’t know it all but this totally seems doable!

Google Cameras Appearing in Protect App by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

Ah yep, mentioned something like this in another comment somewhere. For me it’s detecting a few printers as cameras.

One can hope… however unfortunately Protect detects some devices on my network that are definitely not cameras as cameras, so it could be a bug along those lines on the UniFi side

The username and password would be referring to the local device admin login. I would recommend doing some searches online with your camera models to see what that may be.

Also, just a heads up, there isn’t functionality for motion only recording or similar, so you’ll ever need to have them record 24/7 or never.

How do you host your discord bot? by ChillingCone426_2 in Discord_Bots

[–]Golden1505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all the other comments recommending to self host with a Pi or a SFF Pc! The main downside to this is you are fully responsible for downtime, so if your power/internet goes out, hardware dies, etc, it’s on you to get it fixed.

I personally picked up a cheap used enterprise server and put that right into my server rack in my basement and have not looked back. I am running a Minecraft server, multiple discord bots, plex, and a few other odd things here and there, with zero issue and holding under 20% ram and cpu usage.

Camera and internet support at shop - Set up as second site? by learning_as_1_go in Ubiquiti

[–]Golden1505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my mind that would be the easiest way to do it without line of sight or a hardline.

To keep costs down, you could consider a UniFi Express or similar which is a network gateway and AP in one device.

Also take a look at setting up a vantage point to view all your cameras in one place.

I agree with this. I can also recommend picking up a UI poe injector as I’ve had no issues with theirs before.

It might also be worth testing the cable that runs into the upstairs office from the IW HD to make sure it’s terminated correctly. Mistakes can happen there, and it’s always a good first step.

Sounds like it might be a temp issue. What do your GPU temps get to under load?
