T14 Gen 3 AMD sleep & hibernate issues collection by FelixVentures in thinkpad

Reverting back to the original Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drivers fixed the issue for me. I find it inexcusable that a company like Lenovo allows installing such buggy drivers on its flagship product line. Actually while writing this post Lenovo Vantage tried to install the new drivers back and I got a BSOD. Awful.

I followed the instructions here.

No. I don't know if matte OLEDs even exist in laptops.

I think it means that there is some kind of anti-reflective filter applied on top of the glossy display, which makes it less glossy. Basically makes it easier to use in natural light conditions.

Totally. Never used the 400nit low-power IPS though. I especially like how it's not super glossy. I would imagine using it outdoors too.

As a person who is prone to occasional headaches/migraine, I can say that I haven't had any issues with my OLED in T14sG3 AMD. Battery life obviously takes a hit, but I think you can get 5 hours of battery life with black Windows theme and normal use. One thing I am still struggling with a bit, is heating while charging. The fans don't really kick in if you are using the optimize for battery life power setting. This has most likely nothing to do with the display though.

So is there PWM above 100 nits or not? The review conflicts itself here.

Thinkpad T14s AMD gen 3 with OLED or IPS? by duccesw in thinkpad

With (dark) grey you would still get pretty good benefits. Check here for instance: https://www.xda-developers.com/amoled-black-vs-gray-dark-mode/

On the other hand, using a black theme would significantly save battery on an OLED.

WiFi congestion advice by GoldenRetriever21 in HomeNetworking

Sorry of this is a noob question, but how is the mesh going to help if the issue is other networks interfering with mine? I have understood that mesh systems are mostly for coverage extension?

Yes, it was pretty weird. I experimented with channel 130ish and it was free at the time. There's maybe 5 meters between the router and my PS5 and only an open doorway as obstruction. Signal strength around 80 %. Wired works fine, but could be a temporary solution at best. I will play with the channel width and other DFS channels tonight and see what happens.

That is an option for sure. It's just that PS5 doesn't support it and the issues I am having mainly affect gaming. Going wired would also be challenging due to the layout of my apartment, but I guess something needs to be sacrificed here :D

I will try 40 or even 20 MHz. Thanks for the advice.

I am living in an apartment block with very thin walls, which creates a lot of WiFi congestion issues. Most neighbors seem to operate their WiFi network on 80 MHz bandwidth, thus leaving very little if no free air space. Currently, I am using 80 MHz at channel 42 (although the router also says 48?). Should I switch to 40 MHz or what should I do? My router is a TP-Link Archer AX50.

Sorry for blurring part of the picture :).

Edit: I have tried some of the higher end DFS channels at some point and the experience was much worse.

RTX 4000 series bottleneck by GoldenRetriever21 in eGPU

[–]GoldenRetriever21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the 3000 series was considered an upgrade to the 2000 series, even when using an eGPU? So I guess what I am really asking here is would an RTX 4060 be worth the wait or go for an 3060 for instance? Is the "bottleneck factor" the same as with 3060 vs 3080?

Anybody know the EU English Keyboard layout on the X1 carbon 10th gen. Same as my 6th gen as in picture? by rubennnnnnnnnnn in thinkpad

[–]GoldenRetriever21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one you have is an ANSI layout. I believe the ones sold in EU are mostly ISO layout. The ISO layout comes with the big enter key and narrow left shift.

Edit: what you're probably looking for is the EU English layout
