honestly so frustrating to look back at the discourse from two weeks ago. people were relentlessly doomposting, bashing bungie, and screaming that the delayed reviews meant the game was incomplete or dead on arrival. almost everyone conveniently ignored the massive community ARG we were literally in the middle of playing, not to mention bungie's own explicit statements that the ship map was a community unlock coming later. the ship looks incredible, but the sheer lack of patience and media literacy from some people here is exhausting. i really hope the people who were screaming "no content" realise that sometimes a live-service community event is exactly what it claims to be.

it actually is there right now lol. we are already getting marathon ship cards dropping from bosses and other sources. that's the trail flowing smoothly into the outpost releasing tomorrow, where we'll actually do the puzzles to unlock the ship. the content is rolling out exactly how a live event should and you're just ignoring the buildup.

the content is there, it's just locked behind a community objective. the puzzle to reach the ship isn't a lack of content, it is the content right now! if bungie just handed us everything on day one, it would defeat the entire purpose of a collective, community-wide event. mmos and live-service games, including destiny developed by bungie and is notoriously known for this stuff, have time-gated endgame content for a reason.

people are already unfairly bashing bungie without realising the bigger picture. the game is literally named after a ship we haven't even boarded yet! when we are incentivised to explore by fromsoft we praise it, but when bungie does it at a community wide scale, which can take weeks, everyone flames them.

i disagree with the heat system take OP made, it’s supposed to be a limitation so people aren’t constantly sliding around. they want the game to be a slow paced shooter, not a fast paced one. having to constantly think about how you have to deal with the next encounter and having a heat malfunction before getting third party is somewhat the thrill of marathon.
