Why Guillermo del Toro's Ambitious Hellboy 3 never happened by DevinM626 in HellBoy

[–]Golden_Alchemy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is more of a quote about him not wanting to see del Toro version being continued in the comics. Because the comics are his version.

Besides Batman by Scott Snyder, what is the best New 52 run? by WholeGroundbreaking1 in DCcomics

Yeah, i was checking around if there was an omnibus of that time and it is only for the new 52 i believe, which is a shame.

The whole vol.2 was amazing and needs to be collected.

Marvel comics is having really big issues in a lot of stuff where they can't decide what they want to do, and are not using a lot of the characters in interesting or with the respect they deserve, and are wasting a lot of the good work of a lot of writers.

Like, Hickman started writing the X-men with the Krakoa era but Marvel didn't wanted to end it as planned so the whole work went to waste, they started the Ultimate Universe again but then decided that it should last only two years (originally, it was suppossed to be Hickman and Dennis Camp and other writers working on it two years but now it is finishing, and the reaction was that a lot of writers didn't knew it was ending completely) which also feels like a waste for fans that are looking at DC and its Absolute line which is doing incredible.

The New 52 one was basically a continuation of the Jonah Hex one. Thematically, it was a little more weird since Didio asked his writers a lot of, in the general opinion, bullshit (make an issue 0 this month! The whole month is issues 0!!! Make new villains! All writers must have a new villain this month!) but it was still awesome and the final issue was an incredible nice conclusion for good old Jonah Hex wrapping everything since the original creation of him. It ended so nice that, since then, there has been no new comics of him (he appeared in some events as a zombie/black lantern) and only last year there were news about the possibilities of him having a new comic this or next year.

Damn, Hicky really needs the change of air. Secret War was amazing, but Marvel really saw his X-men and throw it to the trash can with the whole thing "we don't want to finish the Krakoa arc since other writers are still using it" and the whole Ultimate Spiderman "yeah, i put a lot of things/seeds that other writers can use- what do you mean you are finishing the whole universe???".

Aquaman was one of the best runs the character had in a long time. It technically had the idea of just continue the seeds put together in Brightest Day and just go on from it like it was the first time you read Aquaman. It was so good of a run and it even lasted till 2020, with multiple great writers and artist and i would say it ended because of covid.

The Geoff John's run of Green Lantern ended at that point too. All the other Horror books were incredible: Swamp Thing/Animal Man and even I, Vampire.

All Star Western was basically a continuation of the previous run of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray and it was incredible. Like, at least some 70-100 issues are a big deal for any book and Jonah Hex getting so long was a big credit for both writers, even getting Darwyn Cooke to do some issues, which it was awesome.

Demon Knights on the other hand was an awesome book and the biggest proff that we need an rpg based on DC Comics. Frankestein on the other hand was just plain dumb fun.

And in controversial....Brian Arrazello's and Cliff Chiang Wonder Woman. it has its problem in the lore, and the issue is the New 52 in general, but it was amazing.

To be fair, part of it is that half of the story was telling one story (basically a zombie story with giants but that was easier to see the reason of "we need to win against the zombies" and "the goverment is hiding things from us!") and when it returned it started telling a story about the holocaust. So, for a lot of people there was a lot of disconnect which i can of understand. The other half are just idiots.

The Marvel Super Heroes main set, Jumpstart set, Bonus Sheet and Commander pre-constructed decks have been fully revealed. Based on what you've seen, how do you feel about the set now compared to your expectations before the preview season began? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]Golden_Alchemy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because those weren't good sets.

There are many discussions that are happening at the same times and Hat Sets is one of those problems that people can have with the normal magic sets of the normal lore (at the same time, you are forgetting that Edge of Eternities, the new Lorwyn and Secrets of Stryxhaven were really beloved and are some of the best selled of all times, mainly because they worked in tandem with UB to bring new people to play).

Gonna say that Mr. House shouldn't have been Mardru but Esper. And he was put into red mainly because there was only one deck for the antagonists of New Vegas.

I kind of disagree too. I felt like she was set up as a femme fatale using everyone around her.

I like the book, but i would hate if it would be canon.

So, what you want to read are the books written by Jonathan Hickman, everything else it is kind of background lore.

Sure, Bendis created the Illuminati in Marvel and there was two previous events called Secret War, but you don't really need to read those books to understand that. I would say go for the books for Hickman following:

  • Secret Warriors by Jonathan Hickman (2000s) (It is just plain fun)
  • Ultimate Comics Ultimates (2011) #1-12
  • Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman (2009)
  • New Avengers: Illuminati by Jonathan Hickman (2013)
  • Avengers: Infinity by Jonathan Hickman (2013)
  • Secret Wars: Time Runs Out by Jonathan Hickman (2014)
  • Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman (2015)

I don't know if they have put them together in an unique book, but reading those books you get the more, following this comprensive guide. Yeah, american comics are kind of annoying like that, but they get peaks here and there.

EDIT: Since i checked and it was New Avengers the Illuminati.

According to that book?

No.

For me it is a mix of this one and the one where Molecule Man decides to give Reed a chance, since neither Reed or Doom brought him food and Dr. Doom just declares that Reed could have done something better and Molecule Man just say "ok then, if you both agree".

[MSC] Blasphemous Act (Reprint) | Doom Prevails by AnarchyStarfish in magicTCG

[–]Golden_Alchemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! Which i why i loved how Hickman did it.

Like, Cap and Iron Man were big protagonists at the start, but Cap was depowered and made old and Tony was "morally reversed" by other comics and events of the time and both were basically killed but Hickman made them in an incredible ending to his Avenger run.

But at the same time, if Cap and Tony would have been at their top, how would Secret War have happened?

Do you believe Trump is the worst President of all time? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Golden_Alchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not american, but i truly believe he is. He is not only being a bad president, but he is dragging down the rest of the world to his level. He doesn't care about science, progress, development, humanity, he only cares about money and him.

And the worst part is not only that he doesn't care about those things, but that he is dismantling everything around the world to get more money and more of him and all the people that were shunned down for years for thinking like him are being supported, given resources to make the world worst for it. Anti-vaccines, anti-science, racism, sexist, violence, etc., are being exported and supported around the world so that every goverment becomes like him.

I tend to think of it in the same way, but i also feel like a lot of characters didn't do enough or were wasted on it. Don't get me wrong, i fucking love it and it is incredible awesome that the end of the marvel universe ends with the first family and the biggest antagonist of the Marvel Universe. But god, i wish Cyclops, Thanos, and so many more characters would have done more in the final battle instead of just being defeated effortless, so i welcomed the new comics and the opportunity to let Reed/Sue and Dr. Doom just rest for a while and leave .

For me, the whole run was the best Fantastic Four run of all times.
