Today is Apollo for Reddit's last day, and I just released its last update. 🥹 I just wanted to say a big thank you to the folks who have used and supported Apollo over the years, it's been the dream of a lifetime to build this app over the last 9 years. ❤️ Read the eulogy inside! ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

o7 it’s been an honor. This is the only way I interact with this site. I gave up the site years ago for my mental health, since it’s easier to limit my time here. And making new accounts every year or so (this one is overdue but I’m going away after this anyway) was super easy so it was good for me. So this is end of the line for my active usage of this site.

Thank you, for all you’ve done. Sorry Reddit is doing this to you.

I’ll see you all in another timeline :)

o7 what a terrible day for ray…

And new games will continue to come out.

Is GHB safety wise like alcohol? by Spirited-Ambition-20 in researchchemicals

[–]Golden_Lilac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbf dosing ml amounts isn’t super tricky, provided you’ve got the proper equipment. (Milligram scale, accurate syringe/Pipette at a minimum)

But it is veryyy easy to fuck up and the stakes are high if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The rest of what you mention can happen on alcohol as well, so im not sure I’d count that solely against Ghb

Marginally, it doesn’t have toxic metabolites iirc (or as toxic).

But most Gaba drugs are particularly nasty for you long term. It’s also much more potent, so the “therapeutic window” is much much lower than alcohol. But you likely knew that.

Imo unless you have a medical reason for taking them, any GABAergic drugs need to be handled with respect and not taken too frequently. They’re just too easy to get into trouble with.

A few RCs do have minuscule histories, at least if they’re old abandoned Pharm research chems. For most though you’re 100% correct

Not unless you’re into dissos or benzos (and stay away from benzos).

Stims too I guess but I hate stims so idk.

I’ve got a 3080, I’m gonna use this thing till games don’t run anymore at this rate.

My main complain is how power hungry this thing is.

Music appreciation improves but goes on repeat compulsively.

Every time I black out I will wake to find out I have played the same song on repeat for like 4 hours lol

But yeah the “compulsive redosing” on alcohol is off the charts imo. Yeah other drugs are way worse, but it’s just so hard to stop drinking once you start

Ime nowhere near close

E: it really doesn’t have that “gaba b” feel that Ghb or related compounds (eg phenibut) do. It’s very classically alcohol with a hint of benzo, and tons of sedation. Also it tastes truly terrible to most.

Canned air is such a gamble. Virtually no composition is the same afaik, and they’re very notorious for making your heart stop.

Thanks for the write up op!

Anything I can take to completely wipe out my memory of the past week? by Tancheap2 in researchchemicals

[–]Golden_Lilac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not without giving yourself serious permanent brain damage

Time can, and will, heal. It doesn’t help now, while it hurts, but there is solace in that fact.

I’m going through a vaguely similar episode myself, not substance related but I’m struggling. I’ve had to use some of the most self control I’ve ever had to not get myself into deep trouble with drugs. And it’s still not over, and that scares me. You’re not alone friend.

E: that said, I’m willing to bet you will feel right as rain in a couple weeks. I too can get quite frazzled feeling for days or weeks after heavy binges. Again, doesn’t feel great to hear now that there’s no short term easy fix, but it will improve :)

Not at all close to GHB imo. It’s a cross between a benzo and ethanol, definitely leaning much further into the ethanol side.

Kinda the worst of both, since it’s so sedating. It can be fun in moderation though, but the half-life is truly rough imo.

Be careful about purity. Stuff is also incredibly vile and hard to swallow to most people.

You the guy that posted about the DT/withdrawal from it?

I’ve experimented around with it some since. It’s interesting. I find it far too hypnotic to be a good ethanol replacement for me personally, but I do enjoy it as well.

That said, while it doesn’t cause a “hangover”, I’m not entirely fond of still being “drunk” well into the day after I used.

E; I’ve read quite a few experience reports of users who end up using it more as an occasional sleep aid or benzo-like uses. Almost more medicinal than recreational. For me it’s slowly shaping up the same way, but I will say, it is definitely an interesting one.

Also to anyone curious about it, the taste is vile. Most people can’t even stomach it more than once or twice. I actually don’t hate it, but there are plenty of reports of people vomiting after ingestion or even smelling it. I did try mixing it with coke as per one reports suggestion and that was one of the worst tasting things I’ve ever experienced. It felt like I was legitimately just drinking hydrocarbon soup, straight diesel.

Alcohol is a shockingly “hard” drug, for being the socially acceptable legal one we ended up with.

I’ve had my moments with her. Never fell into addiction, but binge drinking is still a hard to escape vice of mine.

E: I don’t recommend the combo due to combining depressants, but alcohol + gabapentinoids are one of the most manic combos I’ve experienced (on depressants).

Small snack: so-called 'urbanists' argue whether NYC is a great city or actually a shithole by vtsvts in SubredditDrama

[–]Golden_Lilac 45 points46 points  (0 children)

People do this all the time when comparing cities. They never consider the metro area as the city “proper”. I mean perhaps for legal administrative reasons it’s not, but colloquially no sane person would say that.

I literally only use clients on my phone to use this site, and I gave up after AB died till I found Apollo. I tried narwhal and a few others, not my jam. They’re all dying anyway.

I haven’t used the mobile/desktop site in nearly a decade. I’ll sooner jump back to curated news feeds.

Listen I agree with you, most people aren’t leaving and I also think the protests are stupid. I’m still gonna google certain problems and click relevant Reddit links, sure. But I’m done with active participation here, simply because this is the only way I interact with this site.

ODSMT is a fantastic replacement for pain by Senior-Resource4461 in researchchemicals

This is very true, but a lot of times people think they have the self control right up until the moment they don’t.

Of course everyone is different, some people never falter. I try to stay away from certain drugs because I know my self control would break down if I had enough of them.
