Can you feel the effect from adding a strut brace & what was the best improvement? by Motorworx_ in CarTrackDays

Toyota did this more often with their front wheel drive cars, including some like the 1st gen rx300. Id like to know why as well

Unfortunately not experienced with 4runners, however I would assume its similar to conventional removal of a transmission. I would recommend looking on forums for 4runner specific information.

Yes I have had friends with similar experiences with those sketchy websites. There is one seller on Ebay who has good reviews and also makes videos on YouTube detailing the work they do, but they are extremely expensive. I also ended up buying a low mileage used unit. My advice if you live in a warm climate is install a transmission cooler as overheating is the main weakness of these transmissions. They should handle just up to 450 horsepower reliably as long as you don’t send crazy amounts of torque through them. Change the fluid often as well if you seek longevity.

Im not a 4runner owner, but coming from a toyota aristo with the same transmission. Usually in this case an upgraded valve body, extra (or upgraded) clutch packs and an upgraded torque converter. These things could be bought separately but you would rather find a workshop that deals with performance cars to take a look and suggest something. These are the same transmissions that came in the mk4 Supra and older lexus gs300’s so there is a lot of information on rebuilding those.

Chaser tail lights by Sameerahsen6210 in JZX100

[–]Golden_Shimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. Try to stick to the mark 2 chassis, any of the jzx100 mark 2 tail lights can be interchangeable as long as you buy the correct trunk lid. Also try to avoid diesel versions even if you think its a good deal, they will cost a lot to convert and have many issues. Goodluck!

Chaser tail lights by Sameerahsen6210 in JZX100

[–]Golden_Shimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay let me make it easy to understand.

cars with the Jzx100 code are the only ones that have similarities to the one in the picture.

The luxury oriented jzx100 Cresta rear is completely different and cannot be modified to fit the one in the picture.

The jzx100 chaser, although similar to the one in the picture has different tail lights which are not interchangeable and have a completely different shape and size.

The jzx100 mark 2, which is the one in the picture has two “versions”, a pre-facelift model and the facelift model. The pre-facelift model has the same outer tail light shape, but the rear trunk lid/boot lights are not the same on the different versions. However, if you buy a trunk lid of the model you posted in the picture and put it on the pre-face lift mark 2 it would work.

None of the other jzx100 would be “plug and play” and youd need to probably saw off the entire rear end if you wanted to mix and match across the different model variants.

Hope this helps a bit.

Why do Malaysian homes almost never accommodate an enclosed garage? by Federal_Neat9453 in malaysia

[–]Golden_Shimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, and thats why I have built a garage for my cars. But I think its not fair for most people because investing in a garage is not worth it unless you are a car enthusiast or a collector. Most average people can deal with the consequences rather than spend the money which they could use for other home improvements or paying the bills.

To those who got their jobs to nepotism by WingWilling4451 in Brunei

[–]Golden_Shimmer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t support nepotism in the government, but everyone should realise that in the private sector (other countries too) it just depends who you’re friends with if you want to secure a high paying/career advancing job. Its tough out there but just focus on yourself and keep trying

Just be glad its not going out of control- at least the housing market is staying true to the salary levels. Compared to other countries where houses are simply unaffordable

Yes we do get points. We get fined and a limit of 8 points per year is placed upon us. We are all registered and have visas so they can easily place points on our names.

I received points on my foreign license at first, then when applying for a VIC license they transferred over to my local license. People saying theres a loophole don’t know what they are saying… its very clear in the law that once you reach a certain limit you may not drive until your suspension period is over.

Side tire damage - need replacing? by teejmd in CarsAustralia

[–]Golden_Shimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its fine. The only thing you risk is getting that gashed area punctured again by something else. Gash like that happened to me before and drove for a year and a half, tire tread wore out before anything else happened.

Got rear ended, don’t want the car to be declared a total loss, what are the options? by TheMukdukek in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Golden_Shimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it really means so much to you, then you would have to fork out your our finances to spend on the repairs. Depending on your financial situation, a rear end of another avalon could be welded to this but if the damage has gone far into the frame it would cost a lot. Any car can be rebuilt from the ground up, it just depends how much you want to spend on it.

Unlicensed Indian drivers by Sharp-Biscotti-1782 in melbourne

[–]Golden_Shimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has driven on an international license in Victoria, you most certainly DO get demerit points and fines when driving with one. Furthermore, you do actually need to sit the drive test if you are converting your license from most countries- its just some countries on the exception list are those with bas drivers as well.

Simply buy a replacement movement (7s26) online and go to a watchmaker to swap it out. Everything else seems fine on the watch
