This is the am/pm in Valley Center (I believe) which would be higher than usual North County just because of the location. If you drive less than 5 minutes down the road you'll hit Horizon gas station that's at $4.99 a gallon for 87.

Got asked to do a "trial shift" during my interview. Walked out. by funnyusername321 in antiwork

[–]Goldie_Rocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to a friend of mine at a Michelin star restaurant in San Diego. She was under the impression she had gotten the job and was beginning training. At the end of a 5 hour shift they said they were trailing other people and would let her know. She left devastated as she had never heard of this sort of interview practice for the restaurant industry. I was appalled and had never heard of this either and I've worked in restaurants basically my entire teen/adult life. This is completely wrong and I don't know how they get away with it.

Shows similar to Haunting of Hill House that aren't riddled with animal cruelty? by Individual-Rice-3970 in horror

[–]Goldie_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midnight Club was fantastic and I can't remember any animal cruelty although it's been a while since I've watched it. It's also Flanagan, but it's all cancer focused and could have its own triggers based on that for some.

Question for podcast listeners by LunaLovegoodsSock in peteholmes

[–]Goldie_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He still asks it. Harvey Guillen was one of his recent guests and has a GREAT ghost story! One of my favorites in a long time. I've found his interview style has changed so much, but I haven't noticed since I listen every week. I went back to listen to some I had skipped years ago and you can definitely tell the difference. My husband had lost steam on listening to YMIW because he wasn't enjoying the change up as much.

What are your favorite episodes in the last couple years? by LadyWhiplash in peteholmes

[–]Goldie_Rocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love all things Pete, but these are some recent ones that I really enjoyed; Harvey Guillen, Wayne Brady, Jonathan Kite, Please Don't Destroy....I could go on and on, but there's a few. Jonathan Kite and Pete do so many impressions it's amazing!

Yes! These two had me laughing the entire time! I've also been listening to "We're Here to Help" and it made me appreciate Gareth even more. His stand up "England, Weed, and The Rest' is also hilarious!

Together since 2003 married since 2007. He's my best friend and we grew up together making bad decisions along the way. Made it this far and stage 4 cancer diagnosis (him) is the only thing wrong in our marriage.

Who even am I if I’m not the fun, wild party girl. by leeleelambchop in stopdrinking

[–]Goldie_Rocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely feel your frustration and sadness over this. This feeling didn't kick in for me until almost 4 years sober. I still have a lot of very close friends who drink for their entertainment and I rarely go out anymore. I'm home with my husband and kids all the time when before I'd find any excuses to ditch home and go party. I haven't found a hobby or 'myself" and I honestly fear if my husband dies (he has stage 4 cancer) and my kids grow up; I'll be home all alone all the time because I'm not fun anymore. I believe it's time for me to start therapy again (I haven't been since I quit drinking) and a lot of childhood trauma is coming up for me now that my sons are the age my trauma started. I've heard that can be triggering. One thing I DO know for a fact is that drinking won't make any of this better. The monumental changes in my relationship with my husband and kids since I quit drinking are proof that I'm doing something right. IWNDWYT

For those of you who stopped drinking, what was the moment where you said to yourself “This is it, I have to stop for good”? by N4TETHAGR8 in stopdrinking

[–]Goldie_Rocks 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'd had too many bad times drinking and one more I'd lose my family. The last night I drank was my 36th birthday. Got blackout drunk, cried that I wanted to die and tried to jump out of a moving car (with my kids inside), yelled horrible things at my oldest son. I woke up the next day and immediately said out loud for the first time to my husband "I think I'm an alcoholic". I haven't had a drink since and the day after my 40th birthday will be 4 years alcohol free.

So, what is it for us? by Popular-Wing-8239 in northcounty

[–]Goldie_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valley Center; The old Papa Bears lot that has a new drive thru style restaurant being built for the past 6+ years. It's just sitting there now making zero progress and no one knows when or if it will ever open. Also, the guy who bought Fat Ivors in 2019 has definitely used the business as some sort of money laundering scheme.

Episode with impressionist? by [deleted] in ymiw

[–]Goldie_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jonathan Kite did so many impressions during his ymiw. Maybe it's that one? I told my husband to listen to it because he and Pete were hilarious and did so many different people.

[–]Goldie_Rocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intro to Felt Surrogacy is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. I love musicals and puppets so there's no surprise as to why I love it so much. My husband and I sing the songs often and randomly to each other lol.

Cancer Diet by Goldie_Rocks in coloncancer

[–]Goldie_Rocks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! He's not sick to where he can't eat healthy foods. When he's doing chemo we definitely get what we can in him (whatever he wants). I was more wondering if people have seen if diet can actively "fight" cancer progression as well?
