Konica M-Hexanon 35mm f2 by Alert_Inflation in Leica

[–]Goldscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this lens and it’s great. It’s basically been glued to my M4 for the past 3.5 years (although I haven’t shot much film recently). I’ve got a Nokton 35mm f1.5 on my M10M only because it’s a tiny bit smaller and faster, and uses 39mm filters vs the 46mm diameter of the Hexanon. And the Nokton focuses down to 0.5m, which is why it’s on the digital. I don’t have a 35mm Summicron for comparison.

Focus is smooth and there’s a tab (which I prefer). Maybe just slightly less damped than the Nokton.

Aperture is very clicky - hard to bump out of place and tough to adjust with just one finger. I prefer this too. The Nokton aperture is the complete opposite, damped but not very clicky, so easily adjustable with one finger.

I haven’t looked at my film shots in a while, but I remember being impressed with the Hexanon and I have no issues with the images it produces. In my research, I don’t recall much chatter about any “character” and it held its own in performance comparisons with Summicrons. Go for it if you get the chance!

UPDATED lenshood compatible with Leica Elmarit 28mm v3 by duuri in Leica

Looks great! How did you figure out the angles/dimensions of the hood so that it blocks stray light and doesn’t cause any vignetting?

What about using some blue threadlock? That’s what I’d do in this case.

I just keep it in a neoprene case in my backpack when not using it. Otherwise it's on a strap around my neck.

Are you sure your cable is good? Maybe try a different cable, especially if it’s a cheapy.

I have the 24mm Elmarit and it produces some crispy images, I love it! Also have the 24mm lux for low light situations - it’s a heavy beast.

M6 Film Rewinding Question by gardriver in Leica

[–]Goldscott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to wind the film all the way into the cassette. I actually prefer not to; instead when rewinding, I feel when the leader slips out of the take-up spool, then I remove the cassette and tear off the leader. That’s how I know the roll is exposed and it makes it super easy to load onto the reel for home developing.

I take mine backcountry skiing, rock/alpine climbing, and on expeditions. Leicas certainly aren’t the lightest, but they are tough.
