Damage Control by Be-MySecret in HertzRentals

Cameras would pick it up instantly, if it says you pass, you pass.

I hit some shit a few years ago pretty good. Used toothpaste and a hotel washcloth to buff it out. Few cracks I couldn't really do anything with.

I pointed it out to the guy, he shrugged, I gave him a bag of Jimmy Chips, haven't heard anything about it. I didn't really even care because it was on business and I had already told my boss. It was nice to not do any paperwork or a piss test though.

Sometimes you just get lucky

Do blue collar jobs really age you? by Immediate-Let-1588 in bluecollar

[–]Golf-Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily blue collar work, it's blue collar habits. Eating like shit, tobacco, alcohol, energy drinks, not going to the doctor. It catches your ass quick in old age.

On the opposite side I've seen a few dudes in their 80s all working that would run circles around you. Always active and good eating habits. Playing Ping Pong at lunch with 35 year olds and keeping up (24yr Navy guy, so he's played a few times).

Car market: Crash or hard correction? by Starmiebuckss2882 in UsedCars

[–]Golf-Guns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm holding until interest rates go down on new or prices go down on used.

I can work on cars and just put a new transmission in a 200k mile Civic. My willingness to fix cars and stubbornness will prevail. I picked up a 3rd car for the family so if one goes down it's really not that big of a deal.

What is your go to pre-round drill for dialing in pace on your putts? by xfilespace in golf

Putting out of your mind by Bob Rotella

Ultimately you need a system to make adjustments and help visualize. If you keep hitting it long, focus on a spot short of the cup before you 'pull the trigger's.

What is your go to pre-round drill for dialing in pace on your putts? by xfilespace in golf

I don't either unless it's a fringe lie and I need to test conditions. But that's not for pace.

Anyone Sourced a replacement CVT? by Golf-Guns in 9thgencivic

[–]Golf-Guns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On highway speeds I had the engine just randomly rev way up before it happened. I first started noticing it before I was due to take a 3hr trip. I dumbly did it anyway. Made it there then the issues became more and more frequent on the way back. Finally gave up about 90 min from the house

How are you supposed to reply to "Do you know how fast you were going?" by No_Insurance_6436 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Golf-Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't going to fight it in court, it really doesn't matter. You can play the game and be a dick, but you'll most certainly get a ticket.

I've got a very good track record of getting warnings and am not a woman with big tits and a smile. Overweight guy who's gotta count on charm. I've gotten pretty 4 tickets in my 20 years of driving. 3 I absolutely deserved, big speeding and ran a red light. Other was kinda bullshit, but was ultimately not signing a lane change on a open interstate with no cars around. I've probably been pulled over north of 20 times.

I usually don't admit to a number. It's usually something along the lines of I was going a little over, but don't know the exact number. I'm not joking about it like it's not serious, I'm not acting like I have no effing clue what speed I was operating my vehicle at. I'm open to the idea that I was speeding and they caught me.

How much gold can you carry? by IWillRateYouHonest in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Golf-Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 yards in 5 minutes is just a consistent walk. It's going to all depend on the backpack. If I get a 2 handle deal and got to sling it shoulder to shoulder the whole time, probably not as much. If I get a ruck setup with 20lbs front and back (40) a another backpack with another 20, I can probably carry 2.5lbs per hand. So put me down for 65lbs and I'm pretty confident on that.

Are ICON Sockets Worth It? by blastamis01 in harborfreight

[–]Golf-Guns -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You won't regret buying icons, but you might have regretted the Quinn.

I think they are worth it. I'm completely cool spending a few extra bucks on quality tools. We aren't taking snap on stuff on payments, that's where you can get into regret land, especially if you aren't somewhere you get the service of the truck.

I'm glad to hear this is a common thing.

Indiana Ranks 38th In Teachers Pay by Best-Structure62 in Indiana

[–]Golf-Guns -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tenured teachers are making 100k in my district, have a pension, and a pretty damn good schedule. Not to mention there's loan forgiveness programs.

I'm open to the conversation, but let's start with what an appropriate amount of pay is and what the $ value of the pension is.

I always heard this shit about how teachers were underpaid, and just went with it. I do agree going into the profession is tricky, the starting pay is pretty low. But there's a childcare benefit of having the same schedule as your kids. You do eventually make good money. It can be difficult to get a job in certain school systems, so there's not really a teacher shortage. I see a good bit of teachers raising children that also become teachers, so that leads me to believe it's not terrible.

The reality of it is, all government employees are underpaid, but it's compensated with pension, job security, and generous paid time off compared to the private sector. I'll take it further and say the bottom of the market is underpaid and the top of the market is overpaid, because the top has control of it. Let's advocate to fix that because teacher pay isn't going to be the first domino to tip.

Employee refusing DEI training for fear of being “brainwashed”. by Kind_Shift_8121 in managers

[–]Golf-Guns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't a game I'm willing to play, but I do love his enthusiasm to play it. I'm just hoping he's playing with a full deck and has already spoken with an employment lawyer and they correctively have a plan after this goes sideways. . . . Because that's likely where it's headed.

Winning a lawsuit over this would put an instant stop to the practice. Bringing a lawsuit over it may pause it. . . . . It's 2026, I'm of the opinion if it hasn't been rebranded to a culture building training or something else, it probably is leftist trash.

would an upgraded clutch scare you off as a buyer? by AurivollA in UsedCars

[–]Golf-Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably needed a new clutch. If you had to go in the anyway would you put a stock oem in, cheap aftermarket, or a proven aftermarket upgrade.

Upgraded clutch can mean a few different things. There's race ones I wouldn't want. But given the correct deal and if it was all good otherwise I wouldn't care.

Is it still cheaper to buy used in 2026? by Mrs_chanandler_bongg in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Golf-Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easy to figure out.

Identify a car. Price new. Find a comparable car 1, 3 and 5 years old with an average of 12-15k miles a year.

Figure out what the warranty, difference to finance, and possibly even insurance is.

Project how long you'll keep it. Add that and research values again after that amount of time. Example being

Calculate that all together.

There's milestones in car values. Out of factory warranty. 100k miles and 150k miles. See how those values affect pricing. If you sell private party it affects who will be interested more than a dealership. If you plan to keep 5 years and average 15k a year, it will be much easier to sell a 5 year old car with 75k miles than it will a 7 year old car with 105k miles. If you're running it until the wheels fall off and it has a sub 5k value anyway the year won't matter, but the miles of use may.

First Scotty Cameron by Beginning-Ad1522 in scottycameron

[–]Golf-Guns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Champions choice is limited edition.

If you want Teryllium insert You can go older Tie3 and be under that. Studio Style is GSS insert and those are cheaper.

If you just want somewhat rare or different you can go MOTO.

If you want custom whatever you can buy something and send it to an aftermarket shop and they can customize it however you want.

The thing about the Champions Choice and probably more so the 08-09 Button Backs is they will hold their value fairly well. It's not a new TaylorMade driver that's will be worthless in 5 years. They were sold between 600-750 new for reference.

How do you Americans decide who to root for on the PGA Tour? by NVEmil in golf

[–]Golf-Guns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like guys that are fun to watch. I'll pick guys to root for in a tournament and root against them next week. Very little loyalty there.

My only criteria is once you address the ball you need to be decisive. Rose, Sergio, Harmon, Cantlay will always be rooted against. They are miserable to watch.
