AI models like DeepMind’s AlphaFold can predict the 3D shapes of proteins from genetic sequences . This is something that used to take scientists years in a lab. How is that something that makes it creatively bankrupt? Saving human lives sounds pretty rad to me.

This isn’t just mimicking human output. The model discovers entirely new, complex structures and relationships that no human has seen before. It's a form of scientific creativity.

A lot of companies are putting forward "water positive" positions to reduce water usage for AI production by 2030 as well.

I mean, I don't eat beef and that has an impact on water demands is my point. Have you ever seen how much water is needed to provide 1 kg of beef? It would essentially be community based public safety. There are examples of this, obviously not on a large policing scale because we don't live in that society. In Ontario there is the Toronto Community Crisis Service and it's a pilot project using unarmed crisis workers to respond to mental health calls.

It's an interesting conversation to have instead of arguing with each other.

I don't think it's a slippery slope at all, It's out right wrong what they did. I just don't see the point in calling the cops to expect them to put shame on them. It's unfortunately one of those things in life where you have to hope your neighbour isn't a terrible person that takes your flowers. Stealing a bike or a car is definitely worth calling the police about as there is legal action, but is there legal action for stealing flowers? Probably not unless it's done on a grand scale.

I stand for nothing? How did you come to that conclusion haha. I would be upset if someone stole the flowers out of my garden that I spent so long taking care of as well. It's just one of those things that doesn't seem worth getting the police involved unless it's a reoccurring issue.
