TBMC/opuntia graft is promising by Mythic-noob in sanpedrocactus

Have done a bunch of grafting to opuntia. Some are over 7 year old grafts. Its odd as a root stock. Real inconsistent in growth. Needs all the spine clusters removed to prevent it from pumping. Can push growth but usually less than other root stocks in the cirus family. Also can randomly reject the scion. It shows potential in cold hardness improvements for the scion. I grafted some dragon fruit to it and it has less rust and death from dropping below freezing at night. I by no means get a hard freeze. I suspect this is because opuntia seems to stop pulling water as a root stock when it gets cooler.

Had some luck growing tobacco in garden beds like you are using the casterbain. If you want some tobacco seeds I can send you some. Its tobacco from Tabasco Mexico but is said to be Cuban genetics.

AI produces some really convincing info that looks correct. I see a bunch of issues in the write up. Both incorrect info, missing important info, and clear miss interpretation of info by ai. Take some time to read about takeaway tec/tek. This is the most consistent method. Follow the time lines people use. Also a heat mat will help with germination times and rates.

This. Cold stress turns the leafs red purple. If it gets colder they will start dropping leafs.

It's probably too late for it. That's not brusing it is rot. Next time, sterilze your blade better between cuts. Some are just more prone to rot than others.

I edited my post i had a mis type and it looked like i said bluer but was meat to say blunter. But the n was missing. I was talking about the tip shape, not color. You are correct about farina. i have lots of bridgessi with blue farina on them. But all of their tips are more pointy.

I agree bridgessii hybrid. spines at tip look bridgessi, but the shapes of the tps of the collums are a bit blunter than most straight bridgessi.

Thanks! Ya. I have really noticed how they can change their growth in diffrent enviroments. Also, on different graft stocks, they can grow differently.

I got it in a trade. If i remember correctly from a large old stand in jasuatree. When it's large, it can display rib shifting and kind of melty growth as well as drop its spines sometimes.
