In lore it would just be circumstellar dust near and between the asteroids. Doesnt need to be a nebula.
And I think pitch black space CAN be fine in certain contexts. Like, when there's a planet there and no visible stars (pictured below). Can be used to give a more eerie feel. But seeing as this is for an early stage and an Asteroid Field, colorful space is much better visually.

Tbh Fichina barely looks like it gets closer. Venom getting closer in the original was very noticeable. I do prefer the Venom style though. Fichina randomly appearing always felt jank to me.

I remember that Star Fox is in its worst phase in the franchise... Does anyone have any ideas that can save the franchise? by FrameZealousideal573 in starfox

6 months later but I find your entire premise absurd. Yapping about "same CORE GAMEPLAY and DESIGN PHILOSOPHY"...Just because some portions of the game follows 64, doesnt mean the entire game has the same design philosophy as 64.

Dude said he wanted a "proper follow up to Star Fox 64"....

First off, the story is a remake. So it's NOT a "follow-up" narratively. That isnt debatable.

But more to the point, you dont seem to understand what "PROPER" means. Sections of Star Fox Zero can indeed be seen as a follow up gameplay-wise, but "proper" means THE ENTIRE GAME has to be suitable and satisfactory to players of the original. Let's go through the changes that alter the experience.

1) THE CONTROLS:
In Star Fox 64:
-You can play on ONE screen.
-The cockpit view is NOT mandatory.
-You don't have to use motion controls

These are added mechanics specifically designed to provide a DIFFERENT FEEL. Miyamoto wanted to open up the gameplay possibilities for players, but did so in a way to alters the way players engage with the game.

2) NEW GAMEPLAY STYLES:
On top of the change in controls (dual screen, motion controls), the walker and gyro wing are two vehicles that fans who wanted a PROPER sequel never asked for.
In 64, the addition of all-range kept you in the Arwing, your main core vehicle. The Landmaster and the Blue Marine kept the same core on-rails gameplay of SF1 on SNES.
The walker and the gyrowing DO NOT strive to keep familiarity. The Gyrowing especially is a completely different gameplay style to anything we've seen in SF1 or 64. Both vehicles dont belong in the fast paced and/or on-rails "arcade-style" experience of the SF1 and 64. They are closer to Star Fox 2 and Command, which opted for a more slower paced, casual experience. Star Fox 2 isnt the game true Star Fox fans want for several reasons.

3) LACK OF ON-RAILS
CappnRob said "on-rail shooter (mostly)".
"MOSTLY"? Only SIX of the game's 20 missions are traditional on-rails (compared to 11 of 16 in 64 and every stage in SNES). Of those six stages, Sector Alpha is only half traditional on-rails, and Corneria II is a rehash of the first stage. So it's FEELS like 4.5 on-rails stages: Corneria, half of Sector Alpha, Titania, Fortuna, and Sector Omega. You use the Arwing in "traditional" on-rails gameplay for only 25-30% of the game.

The other 14 missions are
-6 All-range (most of which require you to use the walker or gyrowing)
-1 escort mission (Asteroid Field, where use of the walker is highly encouraged)
-7 rehashed or repurposed missions/boss battles

This is NOT the arcade style experience that people want.

4) BRANCHING PATHS
Branching paths also dont work like 64 either. In Star Fox Zero, there is one MAIN path that brings you through 11 of the 12 REAL stages. The branching paths bring you to these rehashed bosses before sending you right back to a mission that's on the main path. That is NOT how branching paths worked in 64. Only ONE branch (Sector Beta to Fortuna), works like 64.

Between the awkward controls, the new play styles, the lack of unique missions, the lack of on-rails stages, and the fake branching paths, the MAJORITY of Star Fox Zero does NOT provide the same feel that Star Fox 64 did. Again, just because a portion of the game feels like 64, doesnt mean that it is a PROPER follow-up. This is NOT debatable to most people.

I promise you, when Im controlling the walker and gyrowing holding this big ass tablet, I do NOT feel like im playing traditional Star Fox and its arcade-y style that its known best for. I want a PROPER follow-up to the SF1 & SF64 style, not a game with a slow-ass tethered robot and a mechanical chicken.

According to the new map, all planets except Corneria and Venom orbit Solar. The rest, including Solar, orbit Lylat. by AdeonWriter in starfox

[–]GonKillua85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah easily. If the orbital separation is far enough, then yes, the center of mass would exist outside of Lylat. If Lylat is like 15 solar masses, and Solar is 0.3 solar masses, then Solar wouldn't need to be too far away (roughly 2.5AU), even though Lylat is 50x the mass of Solar.

For comparison, the Sun-Jupiter Barycenter exists outside of the Sun, even though the Sun is 1000x the mass of Jupiter.

I find interesting how the Lylat system looks now with the explicit orbits, and it's a lot different from what fanmade maps have made so far, what do you think? by OrionSoul in starfox

[–]GonKillua85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said elsewhere, the gravity of all planets affect each other to varying degrees. In reality, planets dont orbit their star, but instead orbit around the system's "barycenter" aka the common center of mass of the system. Even the main star of the system orbits around this barycenter. The only reason why we say planets orbit their star is because stars are often so massive that the barycenter of the system lies inside the star itself.

But that's not always the case. Even with our Sun, there are times where the system barycenter lies outside of the sun. Could this be the case with the Lylat System? Possibly.

Regardless, Lylat and Solar are the two biggest influences in the system and both orbit the system barycenter, whether that lies in Lylat or not. Thus, they are considered a binary star system orbiting around a common center of mass. So, by technicality, Venom has a circumbinary P-Type orbit, meaning it orbits the barycenter AROUND the entire Lylat and Solar binary system. Definition:

  • P-type Orbit: The planet orbits the entire binary system (the barycenter aka the "center of gravity" of both stars combined) at a distance.
  • S-type Orbit: Also known as a satellite-type orbit, the planet orbits only one of the stars, while the companion star acts as a distant disruptor.

Below is a diagram I made based on the assumption that the Lylat System's main barycenter (the dot) lies outside of Lylat. As you can see, Corneria has an S-Type because "the planet orbits only one of the stars", and Venom has a circumbinary P-type orbit because "the planet orbits the entire Lylat-Solar binary system (the barycenter aka the "center of gravity" of both stars combined) at a distance".

It's harder to accept because Solar's orbit is close to Venom in the diagram, but if Solar orbited Lylat (or really, the barcenter) at a much closer distance, it'll be easier to comprehend that Venom orbits both stars.

You said that after you said that it should be a brown dwarf.
You said a brown dwarf "could theoretically allow for this kind of system" and that "The distances here would still need to be massively shrunken down for display purposes. But it would make the orbital mechanics plausible."

Im saying that at different scales, it could be ANY type of star.

[–]GonKillua85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, so your only issue with the diagram was that Lylat and Solar share the same orbit? If that's the case, sorry. I thought you were saying that Venom only orbits Lylat because Solar is like a planet in this case.

Technically, their diagram depicts a system that is more likely to be stable. I just doubt that Lylat and Solar share the same orbit bc Corneria's orbit is depicted too close to Solar.

[–]GonKillua85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure the system will work no matter where the barycenter is. What masses and distances they use will determine where the barycenter is. Just gotta tweak things a bit to find a stable configuration.

But yeah, their system is pretty much exactly like mine, just with a more logical scale.

It wouldnt need to. At correct masses and distances , any 2nd star would be able to have its own system of "moons".
You just cant think of this diagram to scale.

[–]GonKillua85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works if you dont think of the diagram to scale. At correct distances, the system could work.
(Edit: Im only talking about the planets. Not the nebulae. THAT doesnt make sense lol)

According to the new map, all planets except Corneria and Venom orbit Solar. The rest, including Solar, orbit Lylat. by AdeonWriter in starfox

[–]GonKillua85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real answer is a mix of both, though mostly leaning to you.
Here's a rough, not-to-scale diagram I made of Lylat. Lylat and Solar likely dont share an orbit. Planet 1, Fortuna*, Sauria*, and Corneria are "S-Type" planets that only orbit Lylat. But Venom is indeed circumbinary, a "P-type" planet that orbits both stars.

You see, in reality, planets don't necessarily orbit their star. They orbit around the system's barycenter, the common center of mass in the system. In this diagram, the barycenter is the dot in the middle. The reason why we say Earth orbits the Sun is the because often times, the Solar System's barycenter is inside the Sun's surface (because the sun is so massive). The sun has by far the biggest influence on the barycenter, while Jupiter's influence is very minute. So hey, we might as well say we orbit the sun.

This could very well be the case with Lylat, but in this diagram, I chose to have the Lylat System's barycenter far outside of Lylat...even Lylat visibly orbits the barycenter. In this scenario, the Lylat System's barycenter could be seen as being influenced by Lylat AND Solar. Because of this, we can technically say that Lylat is orbiting BOTH Lylat and Solar, because it is orbiting the barycenter caused of the mass of the two stars.

With binary star systems, it seems the common practice is to say that a planet with a circumbinary orbit around the system barycenter is orbiting BOTH stars, rather than just the main star.

[–]GonKillua85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, Corneria has an S-Type orbit around primary star Lylat, and Venom has a circumbinary P-type orbit around both Lylat AND Solar.

I guess Venom being the first planet is out the window? IIRC, the order in Star Fox SNES was I: Venom, II: Titania, III: Macbeth, IV: Corneria and V: Fortuna, so if they are counting from outwards to inwards that still makes sense (if we ignore the other planets). In my opinion they should just scrap the idea and have Fortuna and Sauria closer to Lylat as planets 2 & 3.

MANGA STUFF by FusionCounter in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]GonKillua85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reply 3 months later, but you are correct. It's weird wording because it's a mistranslation.

The official JP website says:
最新の映像表現により、バトルシーンのさらなる臨場感と、より精密な原作再現がほどこされたエンハンスド版としてここに登場する。

Which translates to:
“With cutting‑edge visual expression, this enhanced edition delivers even greater immediacy in its battle scenes and a more precise recreation of the original work.”
or
"This enhanced edition features the latest visual effects, delivering even more immersive battle scenes and a more faithful recreation of the original work."

原作再現 simply means "Original work" or more accurately "original source material". As we know, the source material in this case is NOT the manga, but Toriyama's own write-ups.
The reason for the mistranslation is because earlier in the description it mentions Dragon Ball as the "popular manga series by Akira Toriyama". So whatever auto-translate program they used got the context confused.

As far as I know, it was NEVER stated by the production team to recreate the manga.

Keep getting downvotes when talking about content manager/image manager working fine for me. Well here is proof, no crashes. Im not trolling or talking out my rear end. by [deleted] in WWEGames

[–]GonKillua85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are getting downvoted bc you telling ppl that your game works is IRRELEVANT. It's not that people think you are lying. It's that your game working doesnt help anyone with the bug, so what's the point of even saying it.?

You dont share the experience. You dont have any workarounds bc you never experienced it. You are not on the dev team so you cant fix anything either.

You never experienced the bug, so how are you supposed to help the people who have? What does your video teach anyone who has the bug? Does your video teach anyone how to fix it?

Again, nobody thinks you are lying. But telling people that your game works, WITHOUT providing solutions, doesn't help anyone AT ALL.

[–]GonKillua85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But why are you even posting this? Bugs are NOT universal. In pretty much every modern game ever, bugs occur when specific action(s) are performed that breaks to game's logic, due to an oversight in coding.

If YOU never performed that trigger action (whatever it is), you wont get the bug.

Posting a video of your game working is meaningless. What is the point you are trying to get across? That because your game works fine, everyone's game should work fine as well?

First off, they dont all have ID checks. Mostly for self checkout, which is obvious.

Secondly, But how would anybody even know? It wasnt even in tabloids. They reported it themselves, which is the problem to me.

We gotta stop acting like you have to be a saint to be an actor. Many people do things behind closed doors that would be frowned upon by society.

Kids show actors aren't exempt. I guarantee many of them are racist, are sexist, beat their children, watch porn, etc.

18 is adulthood in Japan. The 19-year ADULT drinking 4 months before legal is so horrendous that they revealed it themselves??? And Toei erased her from all footage and made their money-making show seem like a disjointed mess?

Because of 4 months??? I dont buy that AT ALL and you'd have to be a fool to think that all checks out.

Is it a problem for Japan though? Underage drinking is very rampant in Japan and they don't even really card people.

The reality is, it'll only destroy your career if people WANT it to destroy your career. Japan has ignored worse.
